Tire Size Preferences on 16" Rims?
I have IROC rims on all four of my tires, tires sizes are different though and I wanted to see what everyone else was using to kinda get an idea if I should keep my current setup when getting new tires or change sizes altogether and I was hoping to get an idea of what tire sizes to go for when keeping perfomance in mind?
Currently I have 215/60R16 (misc) on the front and 245/50R16 Eagle GT's on the back.

The correct stock size, 245-50-16 is almost extinct - very few options exist these days for tires.
I would suggest saving up $ to get some 17" wheels and tires, selling your IROC wheels for additional $.

I googled that size and found 12 different choices. Nowhere near extinct.

I work in the wheel & tire business, but want to make sure everyone knows what few 245-50-16 options are out there today...

Re: Tire Size Preferences on 16" Rims?
I've heard and read that these tire sizes aren't the most popular anymore. Idk exactly how well bigger wheels would look but that may be a route I'd have to take in the future... I just really love my IROC's tho lol. All the 'imitation' the and generally chrome ones I've seen looked cheapo.

With the number of 4th gens that came with this tire size, I'm really surprised that they're getting harder to find. But, there are still some good options available. I've got the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires on my IROC and my GTA. I also had them on my Grand Prix and on my Corvette. They're a fantastic, affordable, American made tire.

Truthfully the only summer tires worth getting in the 245-50-16 size are the G-Force sports - probably going to get a set for the 91 Z wheels on my Camaro. Not much else in terms of choices though...

Picking up a set of Cooper tires for my 16" GTA rims. Kuhmo has the ZPT in a 245 50 16 as well.
Someday I'll save up for some 17's.....someday.

Re: Tire Size Preferences on 16" Rims?
I was thinking that also - plus the fact that early C4 Vettes used the 255-50-16 size, almost the same...

245/50/16 BFG G-Force Sport.
Great tire, reasonable price, still avalible.

Re: Tire Size Preferences on 16" Rims?
Out of 12, there are only 9 on tire rack meant for road use. Of those, only 3 can be considered high performance "summer tires" - the Firestone wide ovals $117 each, the BFG g-force sports $121, and the GY eagle f1-gs d3 $235. I would not spent $1k for goodyears in 16" when I can get a 275-40-17 in a much better pattern for less $.
