HOOKER HEADERS!!!!

What is the differance between hooker competition and Super competition headers? I know the super is 30% lights but anything eles. How do these heads stack up to against the Edelbrock or SLP or Dynomax. And are there FlowTech Afterburner headers for the L98 engine?

super comps are I belive, "tuned" headers, where the primaries and collectors are set up for a specific configuration, where conventional headers are just tubes bend to fit the car with no "tuning" in mind...but don't quote me on this, cuz I ain't sure...(by tuning I mean a certain collector size and lengh goes with a certain primary size and lenght....)

Super-Competition headers are for all-out race vehicles they are made for maximum performance. Competition are more of a street header. They are made out of heavier gauge tubing so they last longer and they have are usually easier to install because they aren't tuned so the tubes are unequal lengths.

I buy nothing but Hooker Headers. You can't buy a better header and you can't buy a longer lasting header for the price. The only thing better is the Stainless Steel SLP's, but they cost a lot more too.

The Super Comps are tuned to more effectively scavenge the exhaust. They're supposed to make more power than the Competition headers, and their increased developement time is reflected in their price. If you can afford them, the Hooker Super Comp LTs are the best header you can buy.

Umm I just looked in jegs and they lise the super comp. shorties #2055 for the 3rd gen with AIR and y pipe for 349.00. A set of slp shorties with/o AIR and ypipe is 399.00. Not much price difference to stay with the hooker.

MarkZ28,
No offense, but you are comparing apples and oranges when you quote the price of one set of headers w/ air tubes, y-pipe and O2 sensor provision, etc and the other without. Thats where the price difference is excluding the fact that the SLP's are SS. I believe comparable SLP's are $480. So, thats $130 difference (not $50) and I dont believe the $480 includes a y-pipe either.

I have the Hooker Comps on my 88. They were only like 120 bones. Best 120 dollars Ive spent on the car. Dont come with a Ypipe though. Had to have a local muffler shop make one for me (120).
