tornado

anyone here ever try the tornado, ya know you put it in your air intake. My second cousin works for cumming engine and races in the feather light series and he knows a guy that owns a company and he swears by them , uses them on all the cars in the company to get better gas millage and hp. I just wanted to know what you guys thought of them.

Obviously a restriction in your intake path will increase airflow, it's common sense. I also hear that adding a big rear wing to the back of a fwd car will help traction and that neons add horse power, but I don't know if any of that is true.

this is from another site

I installed one in my 2001 PT Cruiser. Fuel economy appears to have improved:
Without Tornado With Tornado
Town: 14.345 MPG 16.240 MPG
Highway: 23.406 MPG 24.711 MPG

In one month's use, at the price I actually paid for gasoline I have saved a whopping $5.63 in fuel cost. Since the device cost $80 with shipping, it will take awhile to see any ROI, but eventually I will at least break even. I have not gone rushing out to buy one for my other vehicles. Perhaps someone who puts more miles on their vehicle could more easily justify the cost.

On the attached chart T: is Town, M: Mixed, Town/Highway, H: Highway driving. Leading T indicates Tornado installed.

tornado fuel saver - by car103 on 11:07AM Thu 6/6/02

I am looking at buying a tornado fuel saver. I already have a K&N intake on my truck. I have a 94 toyota 3.0 4x4. I was looking for some advise to see if anyone has tried this with an intake system already on their car?

Re: tornadofuelsaver - by dodge lover on 8:16PM Mon 5/20/02

I own 2 Dodge Shadows. A 92 and a 93, both with V6 engines. My 92 has a conical K&N. The tornado fuel savers did not fit either the stock engine or the K&N setup. In addition, upon acquiring the necessary hose for installation, I experienced a DECREASE in gas mileage of 1 m.p.g. The horsepower increase was minute, if any (probably psychological). I think once I get my money back I will just get new plug wires and spark plugs instead.

Re: tornadofuelsaver - by audio74 on 11:10PM Mon 4/15/02

i bought the TOrnado Fuel Saver for my 94 4-cyl. Camry and it actually did increase my gas mileage by 7 miles and it straightened out the laziness in the car. The Camry engine size is 2.2 and I also got one for my 1.6 L 96 Toyota Corolla and I do feel the difference in power even with and added K & N Air Filter but the gas mileage is the same , 29 mpg!

Re: tornadofuelsaver - by car448 on 7:26PM Wed 4/3/02

I think that the effectiveness of the device depends on if the vehicle has throttle body or multi port injection. Upon reviewing how the device supposedly works I have concluded that the device is best suited for throttle body injection vehicles. This is because in throttle body injection the air/fuel mixture is mixed before entering the combustion chamber. The swirling motion that the Tornado supposedly does could aid the mixture process and thus produce a more complete burn in the combustion chamber, however on multi-port injection systems, where the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, I feel that the Tornado will not be as effective. Re: Tornado Fuel Saver or Super FuelMax? - by tex on 6:22AM Mon 3/18/02

Can you buy the Tornado Fuel Saver at a store? Or do you have to get it directly from the company who makes it?

Other site I have run into have people that use throttle body say it works and people with out notice noting at all really.

Why are you suprised, it's true.

However, the part they don't tell you is that is on like a 406 that is pushing like 450hp or so.

exactly.

Here we have a jet engine powered car making 10,000 hp with stock muffler, now we'll throw on this blowmaster and pick up another whopping 1000 hp. LOL

trying to compare a flowmaster to this tornado thing is silly. The flowmaster does have other things goin for it then HP.The flowmaster may not add horsepower but think the advantages are more then say,a silly 4" cowl(RAM AIR) hood or $80 underdrive pulleys which almost everyone here has or has thought of getting. The tornado thing will not add HP.I dont see how it would increase milage over cheaper mods either, like staying out of the gas as much as possible.

If the Tornado did actually work I belive there would be a tech article titled "How to turn a beer can into 50 HP".

Nobody here is comparing a Flowmaster to a Tornado.

We are comparing their marketing stratagies.

"Gain up to 25HP."

That's "UP TO...."

Kind of like, say Slim Fast. "Loose up to 25lbs. in two weeks!!!"

Well if I took off all my clothes, shaved all the hair off my body, and just got done taking a crap.....I'd loose about 10lbs right there.

IE... You can't believe everything you read, see, or hear.

Hell I can design a muffler and say "Using the CamaroMaster, my car gained 120HP." What I didn't tell you was I compared it to having a potato shoved in the tailpipe.

A friend of mine put on in his wife's pos '76 BMW 2002.

He still can't believe it, but the car idles smoother, runs cooler, has better throttle response on the freeway and gets 3 more MPG.

We both have come to the conclusion that the car is probably running lean and that big fat restriction in the intake has richened up the mixture enough to make an improvement.

Istill thinks it's a waste of money. But it's keeping his wife off his back so to my friend, it's worth every penny.

by them saying up to thats for idiots who think they will get 25 exact hp gain. there not trying to trick anyone by sayin up to. if somebody is too stupid to udnerstand what it says then maybe they should reconsider some additional schooling.
as some of you have stated if you put the flowmaster in a 2 inch exhaust its not gonna have as big of a gain as if you put it on a 3 inch. or wether or not you have headers etc etc etc. also the size of your motor etc. its basically just giving you an idea. so as i stated previously if someone is out trying to beef up their car and are just adding the numbers they see in the ad they dont belong doing it. jus my 2 cents

Did you see how the info program showing how the vortex in a water bottle allows the water to enter into the other bottle faster.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the vortex allow the air to excape faster though it, than just allowing it to burp up?
They were acualy trying to tell people this is your engine with & without there toy.

That's some shady *** advertisment.

Why not just buy one of those throttle body spacers with the swirls in them? Same idea, but there is nothing restricting the incoming air.
