Crane Hi 6 Fireball Ignition????

Anyone have any comments or thoughts with this system. Hi 6 Fireball Ingnition PN# 6000-6421. I also have the Fireball coil LX91..PN#730-0891. I will be instaling this in my 85 Monte SS which has a L98 TPI under the hood. I would lie to here anyones thoughts. Installations, good or bad. Anything I shoudl know about this system... It is used, and I am actually unsure if it even works yet. So any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Keiran

I final got the search to work for this topic. It kept saying something about not enough words??. I have found most of the info I required, but this model seems to be discontinued. And I am unable to find a decent wiring diagram. Any help is greatly appreciated!

crane hi-6

I have the crane hi-6 too. It installed easily with the jumper wire kit available from crane. You may need a different wire kit since it's in a Monte. The kits make it possible to just plug it into factory wiring with the exception of the power wire.
The two dials doesn't mean it's a two step. One dial is for thousands of rpm, the other is for hundreds. 6000 rpm rev limit would be 6 on the first dial and 0 on the second.

Thanks for the reply. Well even though it is in a Monte the wiring is the same as a 89 TPI camaro. After all that is what is under my hood. Is there any way to add a second step for the rev limiter, or can I just use it with a manual switch if I want it for my burn outs and take off? I would rather use it at the lights. Have it set for say 3000 rpm, sit at the tree, with the RPM up. Soon as I hit the gas, flick the switch so that the RPM's can rise to it's potential as a race down the strip. Could this work??

Thanks,
Keiran

I finally found a wiring diagram. And I was wrong, they have not been discontinued. I used the wrong part # when I entered the search.

So.. I have looked over the manual, and I am a bit confused.. How can I use the Rev limiter on here for take offs at the tree? It says something about putting 12 volts to the Points wire. Does anyone out there that has this ignition have any suggestions for me??
Please and Thank you.

Can't give any help with the rev limiter but if you buy the wiring harness from summit your box should be a plug and play process. I used this on my 89 trans am L98 and it worked great.

Is that just a normal Hi-6? They don't come with 2 step rev limiters, just one. there would be no way to have it set for 2 limit rpms.
The 12 volt source is so the rev limiter works. If that wire doesn't have 12 volts, the limeter is innactive. If you supply power, the limiter functions. So you can wire it to a switch if you want to be able to turn the limiter on and off from inside or something. What I did is run that wire into an alligator clip and I just clip it onto the side post bolt whenever I want it on. If you just wire straight to 12 volts, it will always have the limiter on.
