Yep, they did. The 305 TPI engine that was in my '87 IROC also had a roller cam.

Yes, 1986 was the cut off year and in 1987 everything went roller.

One of the beauties of roller lifters is you can reuse them when you change the cam. Unless you know there is something wrong with one or more of them, just put them on your new cam.

Kevin91Z: Lately I've been thinking of getting SLP's 'medium' cam and crane gold roller rockers. How much power do you think I'd get out of that?

Factory cam = CRAP
They drop off around 4800 RPM in the Camaros. Keep your shift points low until you re-cam it.

Re: Roller cam?

Is there a table or a site where I can find out cam specs and so on based on casting #'s? I've just got an engine from a guy up the street, a 305 TPI. Not sure if it's a 86 or an 87, it's casting #'s are:

Block: 14010203, GM 5.0LG

Heads: 14014416

I've spent a good long time internet searching these #'s, and among other things wanna know if it's compatible with roller cams. I seem to get different #'s every time I do find something for that combination of casting #'s.

Re: Roller cam?

Checked there already, but once again a different answer. From different places I've got a definate 84, an 85, an 80-85, 82-86, 85-87 and many combinations in between. One place even mentioned it was from the late 70's! I don't seem to be getting far.

Re: Roller cam?

All that matters is that it's a non-roller 305.
