Hypertech street runner chip for TPI

I have a 1989 camaro iroc-z with the 350 TPI in it. I was wondering if anyone has gotten one of these hypertech street runner chips and if they are worth the money to get. Any noticable horse power gains? etc. Thanks.

I would say that you sould be happy you came here and asked that first, otherwise you would have wasted alot of money on worthless crap.

i put one in my 87 GTA and it seemed to have a little more power. the rev limiter was eliminated (used to cut out at 5200-now would go past 6000). got mine for 25.00. worth that much-but would not have paid more.

TPI cars never had factory rev limiter....from mileage/timing chain slack, the chips' advanced timing may have helped, but thats all folks...

my gta would completely cut out at 5200- you could not get any higher rpm with the stock chip. with the hypertech 6000 was easily obtainable. it would go higher-i just felt 6000 was pushing it, so thats where i shifted.

Not True. Try 10,031.02 RPMS Fuel Cut-Off. Thats from a stock L98 A4 and stock LB9 A4 binary.

fuel cut out? i guess I learn something new everyday. - Mine would turn 55-5600, but why? it was done by 5000 so...why? as for turning 6k, either your tach was off, or you didn't like your motor. No factory style intake/cam makes power to 6k. Thats like these Hondas turning 8k. They talk like its cool that they can turn that, but they actually quit making power at around 6000...
