Edelbrock STB problem

I installed an edelbrock STB and the sucker hits my hood. Anyone else have this problem? I'm thinking of notching my hood to make it fit. It hits in two spots, one on each side near the mounts. Also its the one with a section that mounts to the firewall but I have not installed that part yet. Is it worth it to mount the extra bracket to the firewall? thanks.

yeah either take alittle off the hood, or some off of the stb... or a combo of both..

it think some have had clearance problems in the past...
yeah i would hook the rest of the stb to the firewall, thats the point of having a three point stb

good luck..

How much clearance do you have on top of the TPI intake???
My 2-point Hotchkis barely clears the top of The TPI and make a indentation in the hood insulation. You might have to make a adjustment on your STB ( bend it down).

I have plenty of clearance even with the TPIS intake that moves everything up. No way I can bend the bar, its way to thick. Maybe I can make the slots on the mounts lower.

OK, you have clearance so lower the the set up. Remenber nothing is a direct bolt in on aftermarket parts on these cars.

No, this is a poorly engineered, over priced piece of crap! I put one on Redraif's car, and even after heavily slotting the brackets and cutting the mounts down, it STILL hits! It hit her stock Firebird hood, and the new fiberglass one too. I'm going to build my own for it soon, and take the Edelbrock trash off of it.

So what your telling me is don't waste my time trying to make it fit cause it won't. I haven't bothered to mess with it yet and now I won't. Thanks.

I have heard some guys with Camaros say they got it to fit, but with a Firebird's slightly lower hoodline it won't.

the one on my 90 Camaro L03 fits perfectly, maybe there is a difference between the TPI and Carb/TBI versions.

Mine too hits the hood slightly, I'm eventually going to give the hood a little tweak underneath. It's the bracing in my hood that hits ever so slightly. I might try flipping it upside down even... you notice how the main brace bows up slightly? This might not work on a TPI car, but I have excessive clearance w/ the Mini Ram on my car.

FYI - MAC used to make a 2 point, I had one on my old TA and it fit nicely. Also, Jamex STB's were going for cheap earlier this year.
