Hey Craig, you're in luck... I was up at Hawk's a couple weeks ago, and he had some prototype ones that should be in production in 2-3 weeks. He wasn't sure on the price yet, but it should be between $50-75/pr.

Thats quite insane for just a pair of small seatbelt trims. Im glad I found mine for $10. Look at the price on the rear seat area trim panels. There up there too. They cant cost that much to make could they? STEVE Z

I Wonder if you guys know that Hawks and Thirdgen are family....didnt know that huh?
I will speak highly of Roy and his business any day.......They are all good people.
Go to your Chevy dealer and see what the price is on some of there stuff...Pretty HIGH!..HUH.. Now if you can get it at wholesale then its a good buy...so I dont blame anyone for adding a few bucks to any product that the normal person cant get at wholesale price...

I'll agree that Roy and the crew are great guys, and you're absolutely right about the Hawk's crew being part of the family. That being said....I wonder what made Bruce go out on his own.....Hmmmmmmm
(I don't really wonder....I actually know.)
As far as pricing goes, we all know prices...it's our choice to buy or not to. I do think TGR is sometimes high, but as part of a small business myself, I know that sometimes I can get fantastic pricing on one product, and sometimes I have no luck at all. Being small, you're not always looked to first by the big manufacturers. I'm not making excuses, but we all should cut Roy some slack.
But what I think most of us here don't like about TGR is a complete breakdown of any customer service. I've met both Roy and Stacy and they are super people. However, on 3 seperate occasions, I received horrible customer service. That's not acceptable.
I think it's the "cool" thing on this board to bash TGR, and that's too bad. I feel bad for Roy and Stacy. On the other hand, business is business, and for all those of you who can't drive down to Charlotte NC (like me and John), I understand that orders have to be done right if you want repeat business.

Remember that a lot of the time there are 2 sides to each story.
First...as one of the only places to buy new parts, he's offering a service, and deserves to make a little off us. Keep in mind, as you said....he IS actually funding his projects....just like we all have jobs....that's his.
I don't mind overpaying on parts like that....it's the big stuff that's easier to find that I hate to see overpriced.

yeah, what he said.
I actually bought my seat belt roof trim peices from him when I was down there about 6 months ago and when I checked on the price at Chevy which I can get at wholesale, Roys price was only about 2 dollars more, which I didnt mind paying since I was already there...
he is comprable with other places...but I do think that Bruce tries to under bid him just to get more business...but that is the name of the game.....its a dog eat dog world out there.
I guess...

Having been a part owner of a business myself, I know how difficult it is trying to follow your vision of how things should be when the other person doesn't see things the same way. Throw in geographic seperation (at least 100 miles), and its easy to see why Bruce went out on his own. Roy and Stacey (Bruce's cousin) are running their business as they see fit, as do Bruce and BJ. I think TGR has better than average service for the industry(and having worked in the resto parts business before, I dealt with vendors every day), but Hawks has absolutely stellar service that would make anyone look bad in comparison. I have known Bruce for nearly three years, from pre-Hawks days, and watched his business grow to what it is today...and they're just getting started.

Yeah there are two sides to every story and I for one have seen the "shady" side of Bruce talking badly about his own cousins and then being all nice to their faces. So I for one will continue to deal with Roy and Stacey. Autofair is a wonderful thing!!
I for one have had not a single stich of problems with TGR, Bruce at Hawks did help me out of a jam once with a proportioning valve for my disk brake rear swap because Roy was away. But you don't bash your competition on the phone, not cool! I for one lost respect for bruce as a business man for that!

Regardless of what anyone said or didn't say...
it doesn't matter. The relationship of Bruce and his former business partners and relatives are no one else's business, period. What matters to me is the willingness of a supplier to go above and beyond what is expected. Before I got to know Bruce personally, I called him (on another customer's recommendation, back when he was a part of TGR) late on a Friday afternoon, after being told by my usual supplier that I had to call back on Monday, they were too busy to get my part out (going drag racing). Bruce went out of his way to remove the part, box it and ship it, all after 5 on a Friday to next day air it to me. On top of that, the price was less than I had been quoted by the other vendor, even with the saturday delivery shipment. THAT is the kind of thing that matters to me when I order parts. Its not an isolated incident, either...I read similar stuff on this board every day. As long as I get that kind of service, I have no reason to go anywhere else.

I deal with both of them regularly and I have nothing but good things to say about either of them. If you don't want to pay the price they ask, go somewhere else. I think both Roy and Bruce try to do their best for "us" and try to make a living as well. I thought the whole point of starting up a business was to make money?
I know they both get bashed on these boards all the time but I don't see any of you guys selling us parts cheap. Everyone has their own opinion...that was mine.
I digress.

You wouldnt catch me dead ordering from Thirdgen Resource again.
I ordered a bumper off of a WHITE Trans Am awhile back, and when it got to my house, it was a creased (or debt, whatever you call it, it was garbage) rear bumper from a BLACK car. When i inquired about it, they simply replied "well, the white one was cracked, we didnt realzie it till we went to pull it off, but you ARE buying used parts afterall..."
After bitching and moaning, they finally said theyd refund the price of the bumper, if i sent it back, but not either ways shipping charges. So i would have been out like, 50 bucks anyway.
IMHO if i order a part from a specific car, and you find out its broken, i should be NOTIFIED and presented with my options. I could have saved them the trouble of shipping that piece of crap to me, and i could have asked for my money back.
FOR INSTANCE: I ordered white faced gauges from Ryan MacEwen, a few months before the bumper incident. I ordered the overlays and like, 10 bulbs (dont remember the exact number). He didnt have the number i requested, even though i had already sent him payment. So he EMAILED me, and told me that he sent me the nuber he had, and a REFUND on the rest that he didnt have. He didnt just send me some different damn bulbs.
Im glad some of you have had some good experiences there, but i know ill never order from there again. Hell, whats the point of pics on the website if they arent the cars youre ordering from?

no disrespect to your opinion...
sorry to hear your bad exp..

Opinions ARE just that, but its hard to form a good one with an experience like i had.
Im not bashing them or their prices, it *appeared* that they were a great resource (no pun intended) for the 3rdgen community, i was just really disappointed in the transaction.
And i wouldnt say people bash TGR because its *popular* to do it, i would say a lot of us bash them because our experiences suck.
