Problems with SLP
I am ordering a 2002 SS this week and a question I raised to my vehicle broker which she didnt know the answer to so I went to the SLP forum to ask it. And this is what I got from the SLP Moderators, chief engineers blah blah...

Man that's pretty shitty..but they are in the game to make money. It's just sad that they treated you like that for no reason. Sounds to me like you pointed something out they were hoping no one else would notice. Bad business if you ask me but then again it's hard to find a business out there that isn't screwing the customer one way or another.

you can also see the thread that started all this.
just go to the slpeng.com message forum,
click on ss camaro,
then at approximately the 2nd or 3rd page find a topic titled "Questions about chrome rims when ordering SS" by ZRATEDSS.
there you can read the replies by the moderators at SLP
there was also a nastier reply from them on my second topic but they deleted it from the board.

Heres the direct link to the page (learned it when I was a web designer): http://www.ls1.com/ls1forum/Forum1/HTML/029983.html
I can't belive SLP would be like this, I expected them to be product-driven, not market-driven. The companies that are personal with their customers are the ones that will be around. SLP has lost me as a future customer becouse of this. I will also try to tell anyone who plans on buying from them. With their already outragously high prices, why do they need to rip you off again?
Yes it is very hard to find decent companies these days. One I found in the car audio buiness is Memphis Car Audio . I've heard of more people sending thank you cards to them than complaints. It's nice knowing that when you buy a product there will be someone that you can get on a first name basis with that will help you their best until your problem is solved. Unfortunatly SLP is not one of those.
Thanks for letting us know,
Matt

SLP was a decent company at one time. I have ordered parts from them in the past without any problem. It seems though that recently a lot of people have been having problems with them. It makes you wonder what happened.

and I thought 3rd gen SLP owners were treated like $h*t
I called them for some info and I was treated, well let just say not too worthy. I would think with the ending of the f-bodys that they would make a better impression with there fewer clients, guess not.
Update
I found out there was a fire and they didnt have the info because the data was lost, and I thought they were holding out, I guess that my mistake, sorry SLP now REPO SOME SLP engine decals,
please

I have dealt w/SLP a few times and feel they are nothing but a
company thats (all about money) i guess you have to be sometime but you need to treat your customer w/respect
and atleast have a staff that knows a little more about their soo
called specialty.

i've spent a couple grand there over the past couple years, and i have NO complaints at all. every single time i call they are very helpful. maybe it's cause they have my order history in front of them and they can see that i actually have spent some money.
i'm a happy customer without a doubt...

Yes, the board does move very quickly there...Check my profile(Same name)...I have PLENTY of experience there...BTW, In defence of SLP, you did come off a little standoffish(NOT A FLAME, just IMHOh....You said you were entitled to something...BTW, in your cost analysis, did you include mounting, balancing, Federal and state saftey regs(VERY costly)and also the fact that OEM options are ALWAYS more expensive than aftermarket...That is a fact...Look at the 12 disc for instance...500 dollars for a CD changer? But a lott f people willingly shell out the dough...The Hurst shifter...325 bucks...Aftermarket, less than 200 for a BETTER one... JeffY has to answer this same question 10-20 times a month...He gets tired of it...I know these guys (Dave, Jeff, and the rest)very well, and I know they are great guys...This is a very busy year for them...BTW, whta other company do you know of where you can talk to the DHIEF ENGINEER of the whole shebang? Not too many big ones, especially tier companies like SLP...And yes, they may have been a little bit short with you, but you did go onto their corporate message board and accuse them of being crooks...Most companies would have banned your IP right then and there...Dave and JeffY didn't...Yuo can still post there, ad we welcome all F-body enthusiasts to post there...Just remember, it is a corporate owned board...Not a generic forum...Thank you...Have a great day, everyone...BTW, in case I sound like I work for them, I don't...Wouldn't mind it, but I don't....

Unfortunately I have to add my own criticism to this page too.
I bought a set of SLP stainless 1 3/4" headers for my carb setup. I talked to them directly before my purchase to make sure I got the right thing When I got the headers I had to spend 4 hours grinding off the little tubes off of the flange... they aren't needed on a carbed car. I also had to figure out how to plug the hole for the 02 sensor. They "forgot" to mention these things
After installing them with Seal-4-good gaskets and Stage 8 locking fasteners I still have leaks at the flange as well as at the slip on portion of the y-pipe to drivers side collector. They were even too cheap to throw in the o-ring gaskets at the header/collecter flange ...oh and those leak too.
The end of the y-pipe still rubs on the underside of the floorboards.
SLP can kiss my hairy butt... I'll never buy another product from them. Hopefully they'll go out of business when GM stops making the F-body.

Sleeper, that doesn't make any sense. I put the exact same 1 3/4" on my carb setup and had none of those problems.
First off, the AIR/O2 issues... If you didn't want emissions, you should have said something. That's got NOTHING to do with if it goes on a carbed or FI motor. I have a carb... guess what, I need O2 and AIR on mine if I want to pass emissions. Hell, I need the O2 if I want my car to run in anything but limp mode.
Second, I don't have any floor rubbing or leaking problems at all. Did you check the flange for straightness before you installed them? On the floor rubbing, I have dual cats and the pipes have a LOT of adjustability to them.
The only REAL problem I have had is the steering column rubbing. That's fixible if you know how--and it's got nothing to do with the motor mounts (shakes head).
I hate to say it, but maybe you just got a bum set...

Perhaps I wasn't clear... I took care of my problem, which had nothing to do with new motor mounts. I slid the entire steering column to the left. I already had brand new motor mounts and a brand new steering column.
