Couple HSR questions

1. Has anyone had significant hood clearance problems with GTA hoods with this intake? Like i mean that with no bracing at all i still can't close the hood. I'd prefer not to have to cut a whole in it, but i can't really afford a new one right now, and i'm not driving around for months without one.
2. My primary fan will not turn on at all even with the sensor hooked up. I have a new 160 thermo but the thing will overheat completely with no fan action. I haven't run direct current through it yet to test, i was just wondering if anyone else knows why it wouldn't work.

2> check your fan relays they could be shorted out or fuses blown

With mine, I started by having 1/4" milled off the top of the intake. (To clarify roughtly 1/4" off the top of the BASE intake- not those fins on the top.) I got it so a measured height of 9 9/16" from bottom to top.
I am hoping to have it installed this weekend/mid next week.

I may wait for the long tube headers to come in, I might not.

But from everyone else with the 'bird install they just had to cut some hood bracing/insulation and that was it. I am hoping to not have to cut anything since I did that, but I'll see.

I'm testing the fans today just hooking them straight to the battery and see if they go, then i'll go from there. And with the hood clearance thing i think i might have to go ghetto and just cut a whole in it for now, cause it's definitely not clearing without serious modification to the intake. It definitely sits higher than the fenders from a side view. I'll let you know what i do.

Do you have pics of the HSR without the hood on?

I am go HSR and I will probably have the same problem.

Will lifting the back hinge bolts help get more clearance?

So i just tried hooking both fans direct to the battery to see what happens and they both spin up with no trouble. Now i'm just confused, cause neither one turns on when the car is running. I know that the one is from a sensor that doesn't go into the new heads, so that i understand. I thought that the other was done by the computer, and that should all work just fine. Is there some relay i should be checking to see if it's burnt out?

could be a fan relay problem...as far as the clearance im not sure but on my camaro i had to dent a part on my hood to clear my CAI hose clamps.

I don't have a direct side shot of mine, but I'll see if I can remember to shoot one tomorrow.
