HSR Throttle Linkage issue
I'm on my second HSR build. Last one I built, I went with the Holly TB and had no issues. I did route the fuel rails though, to get fed from the front of the engine instead of the back, and for the regulator to be towards the front on the passenger side. Anywho, no issues

Well, on this build, instead of using the Holly TB, I bought one of the cheaper Professional Products TBs to get me by for a while. I plan on throwing a D1 on it next year and will be upgrading to a monoblade probably, so this was going to do for now. Problem I'm having is that the linkage on it is hitting the 90 degree fuel fitting. I took a stock TB and put it on and it hits even, although not as bad. Linkage is exactly the same on both. Anybody had this problem or got any ideas? Maybe a spacer?
Here's the TB:

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
how about a picture that shows what part is actually hitting and where? we don't need to see the entire engine bay, just the fitting and where it's meeting contact, zoom in a little please

Sorry, thought I was pretty clear on the location and what I was talking about, but guess not. Pics are from the setup that actually worked. That car is sold and gone. Here's the new setup:

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
Ehh...not really wanting to hack at new parts. I'm just wondering if I've got some parts that aren't right. The Holly TB I had cleared everything just fine. The Stock TB and the PP TB I have now don't on this specific fuel rail set. It's just weird. If I get a 1/4 spacer, it'd probably provide enough clearance, but to me, I shouldn't have to do that to make a brand new part that's supposed to fit in the stock location, work. Plus, do they even make a spacer? I may be persuaded to cut down the fuel rail a bit and rethread the end, but I'm back at hacking at new parts at that point. Just wondering if I'm not seeing something obvious.

Th 90-92 TB's dont clear the fitting, If you get a 85-89 TB and throttle cable you will be free and clear.

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
i have the same intake and baught the same tb. my proproducts tb came with two throttle linkages. but all you do is undo the nut that holds on the linkage lever and remove the large round one (lt1 style). you dont need it. and thats whats hitting. or bend it out if you choose not to remove it.

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
Yeah, it came with 2 linkages, but the only difference I could see is that one had a spot for a TV cable and the one that came on it doesn't. The PP TB also doesn't differ from the 2 styles. Just says it fit's all from 85-92. I'm starting to wish I wasn't be a cheap *** when I bought it.

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
You can bend it for clearance, my stock tb hit and my new tb hit. Not a quality issue, they were desined for tpi, not a SR. Bend it to clear safely or else the throttle could hang open, its worked for me 2 years with no issues.

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
So I'm guessing the Holly is the only TB that doesn't hit it?

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
just remove that round piece. its works great. unless you have the throttle cable that doesnt have the eyelet. if you have the cable that has the sotered barrel on the end then u have to have that. but i dont think 89s had that style.

Re: HSR Throttle Linkage issue
I had the same problem trying to fit my stock 1992 Camaro throttle to the HSR with the HSR fuel rail kit. I ended up using a 1" throttle spacer (mounted between the throttle and the plenum). This had three advantages:
1. Clearance of the fuel rail fitting
2. Puts the throttle flange at almost the same spot as the factory TPI - this makes the airbox connection very nice. Otherwise, you would have to stretch it about an inch.
3. You could run the coolant hoses to the throttle - important if you drive in extreme cold.
Funny - when I first ran into this issue a few years ago, I called Holley, and they said "that intake is designed for Vortec engines, so you're supposed to use a Vortec throttle." Yea, that round-bore three-bolt throttle fits like a champ, tech support guru...so glad I called.
