I have this in another section also, and have searched, but just cant find the right cam.....would this one even work?

If I am not mistaken, and I may be, if you are above 112 lobe seperation, it should be ok?
Its a 383 with perfomer 60909 heads, 24lb injectors, 88 MAF ecm, 1.5 roller rockers. NOT a roller block. And the HSR....should it ever actually ship out from the factory...lol

 

HSR's tend to like cams with around 230 duration, so you should be ok. What cam is that, the rpm range looks a little low

 

That looks like a knock off of an old GM High performance cam.

There are better cams out there if you so desire.

 

Thats actrually a Summit brand cam.

 

Yeah, that's one of many generic grinds that are available from just about everyone.

The HSR is alot like the LT1 in terms of where it makes its power.

I hope those shiny heads you have are actually worthy of a 383 and not just stock castings.

A 224* cam on a 383 is pretty darn mild. If you are building more for a Cruise with some time at the strip or just when you wanna have fun the 224* will probably make you pretty happy.

I just bought a LE 231/239 on a 110LSA for my LT1 build. Not going for a Cruiser, though with the 6spd it should still do that.

Maybe a split duration cam? The exhaust seems weak.

 

Well this sucks.......the HSR is on 2 month back order according jegs and summit. ugh....no wonder why it never showed up.

So, going to be a few before I can get the intake on....

 

Off the side beat here, but since you are doing a 383. What about a First Injections TPI setup? Should provide PLENTY of flow to feed it, those heads won't be able to beat the First out.

I saw one at the summit in Mcdonough on the scratch and dent table. Good thing I'm broke or I would have bought everything.

 

Ithink its going to be tough to beat the 350 bucks for the HSR. I dont know, Ill look around, but looks like the TPI is going back on for the moment tommorow. Ill maybe start looking for a used one.

 

HSR costs more than $350. You need to buy the fuel rail kit with it too, which is another $250 or so. TPI rails are not compatible with the HSR. Those prices are fairly close to what I paid for my HSR swap. By the time I had the fuel lines and everything needed I was $650 in the hole.

Not trying to be antagonistic here, just suggesting alternatives and wanting to see someone else not end up having to buy something else and be delayed.

Unless your buying the HSR used, in which case I could see it going for $350 complete. I think I let mine go for about $450 for everything.

Thanks for this actually, I am seriously considering it now. The one thing I REALLY like about it, is, it has the TPI awe factor IMO. Tough to beat the spider humping the heads

 

Yeah, I went and snatched that up, I was going to trade it but that fell through so now I'm looking to get rid of the thing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was a demo.

I had a 238/242 - 293/300 @ .592 lift 112 LS and it made great 428RWHP / 458RWTQ on my 406 but the valve overlap caused a lot of fuel smell and I could not tune it out with my FAST XFI,,, so I pulled the cam to have it reground

I just ordered a 228/234 - 284-289 @ .612" lift 114 LS , the new cam will arrive next week, should have results in 2 weeks or so.
