Which Wax to use?
Just wondering what kinda wax ya'll think is best for our cars? Ive only used mother's but I wanted to know what else is out there and what ya'll think. Also, is liquid wax better? Just wondering. thanks

I've always had good luck with old fashioned Turtle Wax liquid. As a side note, this weekend I used a bottle of Turtle Wax Color Match wax on my wife's car....suprisingly, the stuff worked pretty well! I wouldn't recommend it for normal usage, but it works great on a car with a dull shine that hasn't been waxed in a while.

If you can find it theres a product called Duragloss, which from everything I've heard is EXACTLY like Zaino, but a third of the price. Haven't used it myself yet - I still have a ton of Zaino left , but the results appear to be the same.

For the price I think Meguiar's 3 step is the best, I'll get some pics in a few mins from when I clay barred the car and the step 1, 2, 3 of Meguiars.

Zaino will run you about $70. Only available online
Meguiar's is sold everywhere, WalMart, Autozone etc.
about $5 a bottle so that's $15 for them and you'll have to buy a clay bar not expensive though. I can get about 4 applications out of each bottle.
Step 1 is Cleaner Wax the easiest wax I've used to take off
Step 2 is Polish
Step 3 is Carnuba Wax.
oh, and thanks for the compliment.

It removes all the pollutants, contaminants, and overspray from your vehicle, the surface MUST be completely wet, the one I bought came with a spray polish by Mothers and worked very well. You'll feel the surface get so much smoother.
Let me put it to you this way, on the package it says do not let fall on the ground, cause stuff will stick to it. Well, I laid it on my hood after doing a section to wipe the polish off and it slid right on the ground.

How do you figure $70?? Maybe if you bought every product.
All you "really" really need is
Z1 pre lock $8.95
Z2 Clear coat poish for $12.95
Then I'd reccommend the Z6 spray $9.95
and if used properly the Z1 should last you at least 2 years. The Z2 at least 1 year. and the Z6 at least a year. Hell I use the crap out of the Z6 and have only gone thru 1 of my 3 bottles.
I'm sure if you went and bought the Meguirs wash, and tire crap, and all the other accesories you'd be pretty expensive too.

Zaino
I have seen the pics of before and after and i have to tell you that the zaino my be expensive but it well worth it. I just send in my order todya for, Z1, Z2, Z5(a must for swirl removel), Z6, Z7, Z18(clay bar) and i also ordered a case(12) of his pure cotton pads. they strongly recommend that you use 100% pure cotton made in the US. They have some other brand names on there web page. but my above total came to... you guys are going to kill me!!!

It's made of clay, I explained it a couple posts up. Go to your local Autozone or Trak Auto, and now Wal-Mart carries them in a Mother's Polish Kit or something like that.

My Zaino bill was like $84 for Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z18, and 3 cotton applicators. Can't wait to use it.

I added up a minimal Zaino order initial cost, and it came to $68 with a claybar and shipping. But I also added up an equivalent Meguire's "starter" kit and it came to $50 buying everything from Wal-Mart. But what you buy the first time (Zaino) will last you over a year if you wash your car once a week, and hit it with the Zaino when needed (which isn't often, and counts the initial multiple coats of Z2 you'll want to put on). Washing once a week and waxing when needed with the Meguires stuff bought for $50 will last 4, maybe 6 months with stretching, and is a pain in the *** to apply and remove. Sure, the cleaner-wax is easy to remove compared to Meguire's carnuba, but I wouldn't use it all the time because it's abrasive (why do you think it "cleans"?). Plus, I still have over half an 8oz. bottle of Z1, the same bottle I bought two years ago. And yes, I use it whenever it's needed.
Here's a pic that shows the shine after Zaino on my 89.

The swirl remover?? is that the same as the Cleaner Wax, cause that and the clay bar did a great job, just make sure to use the clay bar enough, you should hear a gritty sound as you go back and forth once the sound dissappears you're done with the bar.

nope the swirl remover was a seperate thing from the bar and the 3 step.....
i went over the car twice with the bar its smooth but the spots arent entirely gone
thanks again for the help....
