paint$$$$

Any of you have your cars repainted? How much did it cost you? Nothing of the fancy sh*t, just a simple redo. Thanks

I don't know if you have a NAPA near you but they have their OMNI system clear coat and only cost me just over $100 for the paint. I did the paint myself though. If you don't have a paint booth, don't consider it yourself.

I've had two cars painted at the Maaco near me....i've heard some bad stories about them, but this one seems to do a good job (so long as you're looking for a good paint job & not a "great" one - as is the saying, you get what you pay for). So, if you're only looking to spend $200 - $250, might wanna give them a try. My advice: Have car already primered & masked off when you take it in...

Its been known that the painters there take a littl emore pride if you do that too. They will even "bump" up the ratios to give a better result.

NAPA can get you good paint....if you get the paint, and have the car prepped, you could probably find a shop in your area to spray it for your for a very reasonable price. but if you say its ready to paint, make sure it is, nothing chapped my @$$ like having to go back over somebody elses prep job....and if you can paint, have the tools and a compressor...you dont need a booth...and enclosure big enough for a car will do. just wet the flat surface down to keep dust down, and use drip cloths to cover anything you dont want oversrpay on....then again i think overspray hs a mind of its own...

It never hurts to let paiter know you'll tip him for a good job.

thanks for the advice. Is it very difficult to prep a car for painting? Is it a job I could handle in the front yard?

depends on the condition of the car, any places that need to be fixed or filled...how the paint on the car is...if its peeling or chipped bad it would have to be stripped....not a front yard job...

Speaking of it not being a front yard job... My jerk neighbors called the city on us twice while my friend I were striping a car. They said we were making dust..... never mind the fact that were here in the DESERT and there are 50 ton of dust flying around at any one time.
Yep folks I am solely responsible for all the dust in the Phoenix area.
