Car choices. I hate these...

Ok, heres the situation. I have 3 cars (actually 4 with the GTO) but right now here is what I'm faced with.

I have the 1972 LeMans that Ive wanted to start on for about 3 years now that is despertly needing attention. Its going to be a GTO clone. I have VIN #s from a wrecked one and the front clip. I figure I need at least $3500 for body work and paint and will still need to build a 455 and TH400. So should I sell the Camaro to pay for the LeMans or should I just do the car paycheck to paycheck. I figure I will get my beater (86 caprice 4-door) running right and drive that in the meantime. What do you guys think I should do?

I am in something of that same delema. I jsut gave my pops $1,200 towards a 72 LaMans Convert. He is going to start redoing that to be a GTO clone also. If you had the car sitting for 3 years trying to start. Why not just do what you can a lil at a time. What ever you do if you have put a lot of work into the Camaro don't sell it:nono: I thought of selling mine and geting a 68 Camaro or a 73 Vette but I'm just going to wait till i can go and get one. I don't even have my car yet so I won't be missing it at all. Considering I am going to invest well over $12,000 into the car before I am totaly done with everything. I willnever be happy. Or if you want I'll take the LaMans off your hands.

I probably should keep the Camaro, just because of all the work I have into it, I'll probably never break even with it. Plus, its a monster, with gears it should easily run 12's. But the LeMans is mine until I die. Its my first car and hey it gets more looks and compliments than the Camaro which will blow the doors off the LeMans. My Pontiacs are cars that I will NEVER let go of. Well the other is a 68 GTO and thats going to be a sweet car once I get started on that. Right now its just the shell with the rest of the car at my friends house. But hey its rust free and a 4-speed!!!

I feel the same way about my camaros I have owned 3 rd gens and currently have 2. I would kill for a 64 GTO and 70 Judge GTO. The money we put into our Camaros we will definatly never get back unless we hold a something to someones head that just won the Big Game Lottery. But we can all dream of our cars. Good luck with the LaMans. I might actually be going out to Pieoria Il this summer for a weekend. July 19 - 21. Don't ask why I'm not crazy I swear. I will be taking my 86 if I go. I would love to stop by and see you Camaro. Maybe hit a local Track and go head to head.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I would like to sell the camaro and get my 67 pontiac finished and get my 71 monte started. But then again I hate to sell the camaro. But if someone gives me a good offer on it I would take it. I'm more into the old cars anyway. I miss my poor old pontiac thats been stripped down and waiting for quarter panels. I have everything for it, just to find the quarter panels is a pain. Then on the otherside my camaro is just about finished, just needs some leather and minor interior cosmetics. So maybe if I hold out a little longer I can keep all of them. But until then the car is for sale.

The reason I have multiple cars is the fact that I am never satisfied with anything. I always want more. Seeing a car be rebuilt is something of an accomplishment for me. Hell I have had a 64 Impala SS rebuilt learn to drive in it and sold it. I have also bought the 72 LaMans which still has nothing done with it. Oh yea the LaMans has a 400+ CI engine can't remember exactly what it is. my firts 3rd gen was a 82 Berlinetta which was bought back from the ground up. My 86 is almost done. then comes my 88 rebuild. The 88 TBI runs but repainting the body and swapping engines. My old 86 engine is goin in it. my 88 I am doing all the work instead of having my pops help me. After the 88 is done either a 68 Camaro or a 73Vette. After that I want to find a 60 something GTO and bring one of those back. It kind of don't help me at all that i am turning 21 in june and have had 4 cars. 3 3rd gens. Most of my money goes to cars. Next year will be fun since I will have 2 times the money I got now to play with. My dad has built hotrods all his life and restores cars to near perfection. I guess a little of him has rubbed off. check out the pic of my old man. a lil blurry but you can see a little. Cars for me is a way of life kind of. Even though i might not be the best mechaniac i do what i can and that is good enough for me.

twiztidz28-Let me know when you are in peoria. You can come hang out with the local car guys.

SMURFN' Z28-If I HAD to get rid of any of the cars it would be the Camaro first. I just like my pontiacs better. Plus everyone and their brother has a third gen camaro. But either way right now neither of them is for sale. I will probably keep the camaro and just work on the LeMans paycheck to paycheck.

How much are you asking and what are all the specs on your car? I really want to get another 91-92z. I want a hardtop to complement my convertible.
