Who Wants Some?? I got a new scoop today

Let me know what you guys think about this scoop. Of course it will be customized so it'll fit under my hood. Is this scoop a keeper or should i put my 14x6 chrome aircleaner back on? brad

My hood isn't cut out on top. I have a 3in cowl. the part of the hood that is cut out round for my 14x6 is covered by the cowl.

if your gonna have that kind of scoopp
then it should definitely stick out of the
hood..
for one.. thats what it's designed
for.. so air can get in those butterflies!

I haven't decided yet. I think i'm going to cut out the top of my cowl so it sticks out the top, but i've still got a lot of polishing to do!! The scoop needs polished badly

They're in the Summit catalog for like $200 or so. Not too cheap.

yeah It looks nice, but what is going to keep the dirt out of you carb. If it is only a strip car then fine, but if you run it on the street, you will have dirt being sucked right down the carb.

dont get me wrong, I like the scoop. I just dont think I would like tearing down the carb every week to clean it out.

Unless you have a fuel injected, 6-71GMC blown big block under that Hilborn style scoop, you're just pretendin'.

I think it looks sick. I have seen one on an old caprice. Would look alot better if u cut it out of the hood.

If you have a cowl hood doesn't the air flow in from the rear?? Shouldn't the scoop technically be turned around? Granted that would look worse but at least you would see "some function" from it.

Personally I say throw the bug catcher as far away from you car as possible.

Get rid of it. Put the 14 in. back on and seal it to the bottom of the hood, then get a K&N with the filter on top and sides. You will have cold air induction. I see a d_ck head with a firebird cruising down I69 every now and then with one of these. It makes me want to throw sh_t at him. It is the true sign of a street squirrel.

Yes, Karps TA, that is correct, the air is forced against the windshield and the only place air can flow is into the cowl into the engine bay.

idiots.........

that scoop is good looking. you CAN RUN IT IN THE RAIN. Summit or Jegs sells a cover that you can fit over it that allows air to flow in around the back, but covers up the front.

they look soo sick just poking up out of the cowl, back bottom flush with the cowl.. mmmmm.!!!

pics please!!

unless you have a blower underneath that scoop to suck air in, take it off, and put your 14" filter back on. that just screams **** rocket in the worst domesticated backwoods red neck kinda way.

so...

so if its 3 years old, which one did you put on Brad Keith? Personaly, i could have kept the air cleaner. I think bug catchers are only good sittin on top of a fat supercharger or mabye even a dual tunnel ram. But it looks kinda week with just a single carb. Just my .02

i think those ugly pieces of sh*t look bad no matter what they are on. get a hood to fit over your engine. the maybe 3 hp you are gonna pick up with that contraption on ANY car isnt worth the eye sore it causes.

Ive always been a fan of the bird catchers but u need to have a bite to go with the bark. That ones little its more of a bug catcher than a bird catcher.

well put i don't like "fake blowers" as i call them, those scoops are made for a blower, i see them all the time and make fun of them, it is so obvious its fake, and i think it looks r!cey and retarded. just my opinion though
