how to polish rims?

I've been doing work on my car and decided that one of the major things that I need to do, is polish my 15" 5-spoke (Z28 style) wheels, I have been looking for instructions on how to do this, but I can't find any....eventually I will buy have new rims put on, but I just had the tires put on this one, so I decided it would be best to polish them.

but the rims I want polished are the 15" 5-spoke ones....do I follow the same process as the Aluminum Iroc Rims?

The reason I want to do this is because I saw this black RS with the 15" wheels that looked like they had been polished so surely it is possible......

I typically search through the previous posts before I start a new thread....I didn't find much info about the 15"ers...wouldn't want someone to come and chew me out (1991tealRSt-topGuy!) anyways, these threads of mine usually wouldn't take place if it weren't for my overall general lack of knowledge and such

P.S. to 1991tealRSt-topGuy; just messin' with ya, I actually think your posts are some of the most entertaining on the board , and besides us guys with teal t-top RSs gotta stick together

If it's made of aluminum, you can polish it (as well as many other types of metal).

Are your z28 rims like these on my old s10 well those are off a z28 and I polished the non-painted part of them and painted the rough parts. I first stripped the clear coat off them (with heavy duty funiture stripper) then sanded the flat nonpainted parts with 180 then wetsanded with 220, 320, 400, then 600 and then you can go higher if you want then you polish them with alum. cleaner/polish ( I use autosol)....because its bare alum, dont use any acid on them, plus youll have to polish them every month or so or get then clear coated again. I like the bare look better.
In the pic you can see what happens when you dont polish them enought they end up going pale white on ya...(my brother didnt polish them ever afer i sold him the truck,, but they looked like chrome when I had them)

Just do it the same way you would polish IROC wheels, but you'll need to sand more since they have casting and all. I started polishing a 15x7 wheel and I quit after only one spoke. It's a b*tch to sand all that! Good luck though.
