I love these boards!
I've been just browsing these boards what not, and at first I thought the majorly of the people on here were like in the mid 30's. As it turns out, most of us are anywhere between 15-23. and I love it. I'm 17 and I'm restoring an 86 camaro, I'll get pics when I'm done. I love these boards! Gave me so many ideas and what not, and I can't wait to start moding my car!

I love them too
If it wasnt for thirdgen.org I wouldnt own my IROC right now. It had a simple broken tranny mount and I thought the tranny was bad and wasnt gonna buy it.

For sure - I never would have ended up with my car had I not come to these boards, either. I just happened by the Ontario forum one day (I still had my Corsica....*shudder*), and caught a Car For Sale! post the day it had went up....went down, checked it out, and got myself a Firebird.
This place has a wealth of experience, information, and know-how that has been invaluable to me so far...people ranging from 15 to 60 years old, all with a common likeness for the ThirdGen. We rule!:hail: :lala: :hail: :lala: :hail: :lala:

I just turned 22 and I started my adiction...er...hobby in at age 18.
Started with my $500 84 Firebird (red) then my 91 Ttop (sold it), then the 81 Trans Am (sold it and bought a diamond for my girl), and now another $500 84 Firebird S/E (resto in progress).
I own the two 84's now and Im fixing up the brown one.

Well I was 17 when I first started restoring my 85 SC did all body work, motor work, interior, added quite a few options to my rpo list, and then painted the car myself, almost finished. I am 18 and my Camaro looks like an 88 sc, Now if I could find a set of 4th gen black leather seats then I will have my interior complete.
I'm 21 now but I got my 90 RS when I was 16. I made a webpage for someone for $4k and bought the car for $3500 (was super cheap because of a typo in the newspaper). I bought it before I found this website ... I liked the way it looked and sounded (previous owner had done exhaust). I wish I had known how slow it really was .. but oh well .. I dont care anymore becuase I like to slide. I babied it for a long time (mom took it over for 3 years as her second car when I got my reckless driving ticket heheh!) but now 5 years later its doing this:
And still running strong so I cant complain. Saddy I will be selling it soon but I need to move on to bigger and better cars while I wait for a good condition 91-92 Z28 to replace it.

I have a great appreciation for the information on these boards and the people that put so much into them.
I am currentaly looking for a thirdgen to replace the one I sold when I was 24. (just as a second car to play with). I know my need for speed is an addiction as with many others on this site.
do most people grow out of it, or are there many that stay in the hobby.
please tell me I'm not the only 28 yr old on these boards.
Am I a freak?????

Just a warning to all you younger guys out there, If you're not careful you'll end up like me when you get into your 30's
(SEE SIG), and that's only the ones I'm proud enough to tell people about. I started my addiction when I was 19. I bought my 89 IROC, one year old with 13k on it. Then the search for a winter car, then another, and another.
Now I have a family of awesome American 80's cars.
No Mopar & No RICE!!!!!!!! Later...........

I got this '69 when I was 18 because I had a deal with my Dad that if I got a scholarship to college for athletics or academics(I got both) he had to buy me any car I wanted. I lived up to my part and he did too. Needless to say I had a lot of attention on campus in the '70's. OPPS, Now you know I am not 17.
Well to make a long story short, I would still have that '69 but it got stolen and stripped after 3 years. The next 23 years went by with no Camaro in my garage. One day I visited a friends car lot and made him an offer just for fun. He said okay, so I paid him THEN I called my wife. I felt 17 again. I then came to this board to begin the restoration and it has been a very valuable and fun experience.
I wonder if the mustang boys have as much resources and fun as we do? Oh well. enjoy your '86 and check mine out.

welcome to the board, dpav, glad to see you like this board
of all the boards ive been on, this board in particular is my favorite and one of the best considering the mostly tech-lockdown the moderators have on it (thank ***)
i currently dont own any 3rd gens, but ive had a few
im really really happy with my recently aquired 4th gen, but as soon as i get on my feet financially, i will buy a thirdgen for a daily driver, so i wont put too many miles on my almost-new baby

I'm now 32 and currently working on my 4th 3rdgen, a '91 RS (my 7th Camaro overall). I started my obsession when I was 20 with an '82 SC. Two Camaros later I got an '83 Z28. Then an '85 Z28 (best of all of them). A couple Camaros later and I got my '91 RS. I have owned at least one of every generation, but I love 3rdgens the most!

Just keep remembering that.. no one else's opinion matters other than your own.. as long as you dig it, its all good. ( although the opinion of the cop writing the ticket is rather relevant, still not much you can do about it )

I'm 19, and I'm modding a 1984 Camaro Sport Coupe.
It's getting the following items: mild L69 305 (approx 200 horse), Holley 4160 600 cfm carb on factory L69 intake, 3.42 gears (already has), t-5 manual transmission (already has), Crane energizer 260 cam (specs out at 206* @.050" lift, .427" lift), hei distributor.
Also it is getting 245/60/r15 goodyear eagle tires on 15x7 z28 rims.
This car is to be my summer driver, and possibly a restification candidate within 2 or 3 years.
I'm expecting to have the car running by the end of this coming week. (hoping to drive it wednesday, but we'll have to see)
Once this car is off the road for a major rework in 2 or 3 years, I will attempt to purchase a mid-mileaged Iroc or T/A or GTA
This picture is from when I put a deposit on the car in October. I have different wheels, obviously

I love these boards two, I've been here for 2 years now, and this is my second Camaro and my second user name, for awhile I was driving a black 1989 Camaro RS and wa going under the user title Un4givin89....Now that I've learned alot more about f-bodys in general I own an 87 IROC-Z and changed to this user name, pennylessZ28 cause all my money goes in my car, lol.
I enjoy this board so much i set out to create an local version of it called hr3rdgen.org for Hampton Roads 3rd Gen , we have a total of 38 members now, most whom are on this board as well, all local guys and gals from my area.
Its great cuase now I can put faces to some of the people behind this board. And we usaully get together as a large group and hang out every other weekend!

I bought my car when I was 17 going on 18..
now im 18, If I was to join the Toronto F-body Assosation I would be the youngest member. There is a dude whos liek mabye a year older than me who drives a newer Camaro 4th gen.
But I was the only one at my school to own a muscle car.

I was 17 when I got my car exactly 1 year ago. I love these boards too. I'm probably on here an hour and a half each day easy. My family and friends think I am obsessed, and, well, I am. Its cool with me though.
Hell, I'm 42 and working on an 86 Trans Am.... It's not your age, but the love of these third generation cars and the feeling of doing it yourself. I enjoy the input from these boards and all the knowledge of people that have been there and done that, but ultimatly you have to drive it, so don't be afraid to be yourself and express your own ideas.........
