The rubber is really stuck on the paint. Washing just kind of smears it. I have used WD-40 before but it takes the wax with it. I have put wax on the quarter before racing and it helped a little.

You can also smear vaseline real thin over the lower quarters.

Meguires

Meguires (sp?) quick detailer before (at the track) and after to help get it off, sorta the same concept as the baby oil, but in a car car product

Take paste wax and put a very heavy coat on the rear quarters before you goto the track. Rubber comes off of wax easier than paint.

Did you try to use a Bug N Tar remover? You can find them pretty easily at almost any parts store.

I have tried the thick wax but it still wanted to stick on. Definitely better than nothing at all. I have some rubber that I need to get off so I think I'll do like Kzad said and get some tar remover. Then I'll use the baby oil or vaseline. Thanks guys. That helps.

I go to the jet-wash and pick the bay with the highest pressure, if possible.

The really high pressure usually blows it right off.

Works great in the wheel wells too!

I did happen to go to the car wash and even put the presoak on it and let it sit for a minute and high pressured it for a while. Some came off but most stayed. Those M/t's really have some sticky rubber.

Gas, laquer thinner, mineral spirits. Any of those will work fine.

If it's really stubborn then use one of those plastic scrub sponges they sell for pots and pans. Not an S.O.S. pad, they're a sponge with a plastic "net" around them.

Of course you'll have to re-wax that area, but don't worry, it won't hurt the paint. A buddy of mine works at a detail shop and they use mineral spirits to get bugs off cars all the time.
