Needs tips for changing car paint color

Its time to paint my IROC. Im seriously considering changing the color of the car from red to black. Im doign most of the prep work myself and having a friend who is experienced paint it. Ill ask him the same questions but wanted to get advice from people who may have changed colors on a thirdgen specific car.

I planning to remove the following so that I can get to all the areas that are painted and visible:

1.) front bumper cover
2.) rear bumper cover
3.) rear spoiler
4.) ground effects
5.) door sills
6.) remove door panels
7.) remove all weatherstripping
8.) remove hood to get to engine bay

questions: It seems like it would be much easier to remove the doors completely... Is this a common practice?

Well I need to replace the pins in my drivers side door before I paint so it will be off. Ive seen one guy who left the door on but remove the front fenders. Im wondering which makes it easier. If I remove the fenders then the front nose wont have to come off.

If doors are coming of just spray the bits you can't get to then refit for painting. Take your lights, door locks & handles off everything you canbecause there is nothing worse than a half **** colour change

if ur goin a full color change ull have to remove everthing in the engine bay becuz its red and ur goin to black. my friend did a color change to his old civic. it was green and went to black but he didnt do the do jams or anything just everything on the exterior. and its weird seeing green hear and there when the car is all black including the rims on the car.

Not as easy as it look right? Man but I sure wish I was working in a body shop rather than this cube at a tech support job.
