Desktop Wallpapers POLL. Please help.
Many of you may have seen the thread "Desktop Wallpapers!" That I started. I first wanted to say thanks for letting me "work" on your cars. I posted this new thread so I can get some feed back.
I called GM licensing to get a license to use their logos in the wallpapers and sell my original artwork to the public. I am getting much closer to getting my business up and running and I have a few questions.
GM requires I give them my projected revenue as well as what models and years I want to use.
I talked to a representative and he gave me a ballpark of $500-$2000 for a 10 year licensing contract. This all depends on what models and years cars I plan on using.
Here is where you all come in. I have been to several car shows this year and the past few years and it seems that an overwhelming amount of vehicles there are pre 80 and chevys.
Can you all tell me what type and model cars you have seen at shows so I can get a good estimate on what sections of cars I should target because getting a North American GM automakers logos will be pricey!!! I may bite the bullet and get them all and hopefully have a huge target and get a lot of orders and be able to swing the license cost.
Any help or wise imput would be great!

All I know is I want one of a 1979 Trans Am 10th Anniversary, but can't find any good clear pics like the guys have put in the other post...BUT, one thing I reccommend for you to do is open a variety store where each "wallpaper" can be ordered as a poster, mousepad, shirt, etc...You get my drift. I would definately buy some posters for sure.
Keep up the good work...hope all goes well.

Man, that license fee is stiff! You would have to sell a lot just to break even on that fee. I suppose they would hassle you though if you went to a show and didn't have it.......
Well, yes there seems to be a "barrier" to anything post 1974 at all the car shows around So Cal. Virtually every car show states "Pre-73" in its registration packet. I did atten an "All GM" show last year. My 1989, and a 1997 f-body were the only two late model cars in the show. I think the next earliest car was in the mid '70's. Oh yeah, a 1968 GTO won the trophy for the "Late Model" class. That shows you where these car show peoples heads are at.
If you need to selectively pay for your license based on the year model cars you think you will be doing, at car shows, go for pre '73. And I bet all your late model stuff, (really truly late model) will be found here on the internet.
One thing you might do, is add a percentage to the price of each artwork you sell, to pay for the license. If a customer orders more than one artwork, then give a discount on subsequent pieces of work. That way you can amortize the cost of the license over a period of time.
