Well I dunno but if anybody else has that idea maybe they can give/sell me their old T/A lights cuz I like them much better.

They were probably damaged.
91-92 TA tails are discontinued, and if you get in a wreck, they can be hard to replace.
The driver probably needed the car driving again as a daily driver, and put the other style lights in to pass inspection until he can get a set of TA's.
