Anyone have pics of their 3rd gen with only 7"-7.5" wide rims?...

I found some nice rims that are cheap. But the size is 18"x7.5"...now I know IROCs and Z rims are 16"x8"...but I heard that 4th gen F bodies only had 16"x7"...if this is true does anyone have pics of them on their car?...I'm just afraid that 7.5" will look to skinny on our big cars.

I wouldnt put those on your car. 4th gens are either 16x8 or 18x9 The only ones that were 7inchs wide were 15x7 on some early fbodys.

seems i remember hearing that those salad shooters from 93-94 v6 birds were only 16x7...but i'm not positive on that...if you look at base thirdgen birds, they came with 15x7's...that should give you an idea of what 7" wide will look like.

18by7" sounds like an import wheel! I am not calling rice but it just sounds too small for our cars. If you are going to go big, go big. Say 18 by9" or 18by10.5". I think it would look stupid. And remember, you get what you pay for so if you found 18's for cheap, that is probally just what they are, cheap! I have'nt seen any domestic cars with 18by7's on them so i really can't give you any more info. good luck

Car: too many ...
The rims on my 90 RS are the 15x7 wheels. I think they all run 205's. If you ask me they (the tires) are too skinny for our cars. Sometimes when I look at pics from DS it looks whacky. But I dont think you'll have that problem because your car is dropped so low. I looked at the BFGoodrich website and they say that a 17x7.5" wide rim can accept 205 - 245's with 45 sidewall, but the 18x7.5" only accepts 205 - 225 with a 40 sidewall. Cant find any 245/45/zr18;s .... So unless you want to chance it I think 225 will be the widest 18" tire you can run (difference between 245's fitting on a 17x7.5" with 45 sidewall and not on a 18x7.5" wheel with 40 sidewall dont make sense to me but thats what the chart says). Plus you wouldnt run into rubbing in the front. I'll tell you what tho, sometime this week I'll be swapping the tires from the SVO onto the B4C. They are 225's. I'll bring it by so you can see what it looks like.

K den

BTW, need my 15" back (one that was in the back of the red car) so I can return your 14" drift wheel. Red car still has a flat lol

I found some 245/40/18, 245/45/18, 235/40/18...hmmm...235 doesnt seem skinny. I remember one time that I had 235's on my rims. And I think it looked fine. Considering its only .5" I dont think it will be that noticable.

Yea I'm off on thursday so I guess we can meet up then. Or tommorow after 4. I just gotta take the tire off the rim still.

7.5 inch wide rim would look ok in the front, but would look skinny in the back. Personally, I would have liked to have an 8 inch wide wheel in front and a 10 inch wheel in the back. 8" wide rims on the front of my car are literally millimeters away from rubbing the inner fender well when the steering wheel is lock-to-lock. Our cars are wide so the rim would look small, but imports are more narrow so the 7.5 inch rim would look wide.
