I don't have any on my glass hood and I didn't even notice a temp change on my 89 Formula 350!

just my 2 cents worth....

From my exsperience the hood insulator is great for a few things, they do look decent if in good condition under a hood, but a nicely done hood looks better to me. But on the smaller cars with the high performance cengines like firebirds & camaros the heat will sometimes cause long term paint problems on some of the older cars. This is caused by the extreme heat you are subjecting the hood to by both sides, the bottom from the engine & the top by that good ole sunshine. This is sometimes caused by the older clearcoats not having the heat resistance or the U/V protectant that the newer clearcoats have ( only time will tell on the newer ones ). This is sometimes not as evedent on the fiberglass or Sheet molded compound hoods. Just a little food for thought..... But I still think if the underside of the hood is done nicely & painted as nice as the top side It looks better without them. I have seen a few custom insulators with emblems printed on them that looks pretty good as well.

if it starts to sag, expect a nasty stain on your plenum, i ripped mine off as soon as i got the car, the plenum already was discolored from it.

I haven't heard any FIRST hand experience from people haveing problems with it off......

You can always take off that black rubber seal on the back of the hood to let some of the hot air out to cool things down....
