1972 Chevlle w/ a 454??

I have the first option to buy a 72 chevelle with a 454. The interior is mint and exterior is pretty good. It has a good running 454 in it. It is yellow with black rasing stripes and has the SS emblems, but I am pretty sure it isn't an SS. The owner seriously doesn't know if it is real or not*he gave me the vin and body plate numbers) The asking price is $4000. Do you guys think it is worth it? Let me know. It is a cool looking car.

Thanks a lot

Dan

For 4k, authentic or not, that sounds like a good deal to me. When it comes to old cars, I am really partial to the Cuda and Challengers.

Im taking the same route you are...My dad sold a guy his 70 Malibu w/ a 454 back in 1983, and now I have the chance to grab the 454. Once(and if) i get that, i will then be saving for a 68-72 Nova.

Thanks for helping me decide that it is crucial I should buy it. It's only money anyhow right? I'll let you know how I make out, I probably won't be getting it for a couple days. I'll post some pics of it as well..

Thanks for everyones opinions and such..I appreciate it a lot..

Look for a build sheet. Under the seats, under the carpet, etc. The code you are going to be looking for is LS5. That is the designation for the 454 that year. Failing that pull the block ID number off the deck (if its still there) and match it up to the car. Try writting Super Chevy, they are normally pretty good at telling ya how to authenticate the car ur looking at. Good luck man. I love 454 Chevelles. Im looking for a 70 with the LS6 454, 450hp

Authentic or not but it sounds like a nice car.

when me and my dad looked at some over the summer, they were like 2 grand for rust buckets, and by now a lot of them were sold... sold with thrashed interiors, rust, and damaged/NASTY motors for upwards of 1,800, and this one has a 454... and mint interior, good enough exterior for 4 grand, **** id take it
