Pics of the IROC!

Hey Guys!
After someone keyed me several months ago, I got a new paint job on my IROC. The pictures below SUCK and the car has not been waxed or washed for quite a while, but I thought I would post a few pictures for you guys anyway. Hopefully, I'll get a nice sunny day and a chance to wash and wax it so you can see what it really looks like!

It has run a best of a 12.9 w/a ZZ4, headers, 3.73 gears, no a/c and some other goodies - and still waiting to put the 9lb procharger on soon!

no motor pics yet! It's got tpi I forgot to mention though. As far as the rims go, you don't like these?

Oh well! To each his own I guess

Hebrews Racing is taken from Hebrews 12:1 in the Bible - "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

You have a stock tpi unit on the zz4, and you ran a 12.9? Interesting! I was told that the stock tpi would hinder the performance of my motor, so i got a miniram. What other goodies do you have? I highly doubt you ran that on just the tpi alone. No offense, i am just currious! the car does look real good but the wheels do take away from it a bit! Still nice though, good luck with it.

He's probably done a lot of tpi mods.

I do have a few other things done to it, but the tpi isn't really modified. I was going to put on a superram, but decided that it wasn't worth the money if I was going to put on a supercharger anyway. Here are all the mods (that I can think of right now!)

ZZ4
mildly ported tpi
24# fuel injectors
k&n air filters
headers
3.73 gears
drag radials (at the time of the 12.9 run)
sub frame connectors
ignition upgrades (sorry! can't remember what though!)
2200 stall converter
shift kit

Hmmm...that is all I can think of for now. Before the 3.73 gears, I had 2.73 gears and ran a best of 13.3. Someone told me I wouldn't do as well with 3.73 gears and should have gone with 3.42's but the 3.73s helped a lot! I think the miniram would be a great enhancement over stock tpi. I do notice a LOTTTTT of low end power with my setup, but not as impressive at higher speeds.

Yeah, those 3:73s keep you out of your power band a little, what rpm are you crossing the line at?

Really? You think 3.42's would do enough to justify switching them out? I am not sure what rpm to be honest with you. I did not notice what rpm.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I have not been on thirdgen for quite a while, and it is so good to see it flourishing! This post has been on for maybe an hour or a little more and already got several replies.

Nice car and great times. Its nice to see people can make TPI work still. Way to many people abandon it instead of using it to its full extent IMO.

I think that the tpi is great, but like I'm seeing - the top end performance is lacking because of it. I have been told that the supercharger will overcome those restrictions though, so the price of the superram wouldn't be justified for me.

The tpi is great for low end but leaves you flat on your face at the end of the track! I have done my homework with the parts i have been looking at. From what i have looked up, just slapping a stock unit on my motor, a zz4 with fastburn heads and a hot cam, it would not be too good of an idea! That is why i went with the miniram! Besides, down the road it does great when matched with a s/c. Not the cheapest way to go, but that was my choice none the less. It is good to see that you have had great success with that setup, good luck with it and post some pics of the engine too! take it easy

I like the style of those stripes better than mine. The fact you have a small pinstripe on both sides. Mines just solid.

Sharp looking car, sorry to hear about somebody keying it, spineless b@sterds. But anyway not a big fan of the rims, but I know you could have done worse than them!! Good job by the way with the time and using the tpi.

I'm with the other guys about the wheels....your car is begging for some Weld Draglites, with fat ET Streets in the rear! Nevertheless, sweet looking car!!

What headers are you running on that ZZ4? I've heard that headers with the angle plug heads are a major bitch. I am curious because I'm thinking of either the ZZ4 or the HT383 for my GTA. The ZZ4 is a bit more tempting because of the aluminum heads and roller cam, but the HT383 makes some wicked power too, and makes that power down where I can keep my TPI. BTW that car looks sweet. I kind of like the wheels, they're different, and they'd show off a Baer Track system quite nice.

I'm not usually a fan of stripes, but I really like them on yours. Can't go wrong with a cowl hood.
