Okay, i live on a dirt road and have a stone driveway, and am also sick of picking tar off of my car, what do you think of these guys. They were cheap, I dont think they are too tacky myself.

But I suppose if you don't wanna drive really slow, than these aren't too bad.

I hate the look of mudflaps, but since you travel on stone roads a lot, mudflaps would be neccessary then. I hate mudflaps even more on cars with ground effects. A chips doesn't bother me. I just drive slow on gravel roads.

I think that if its a life or death situation then put them on.
I live in a VERY gravely road, but i would never put them on, infact when I see little patches of dirt and gravel, i yell, "LOOSE DIRT!" and biff it on them

If you put them on and don't like them, consider this...
Buy some clear plexiglass or lexan and trace out the shape of your existing mudflaps. Cut to shape with a jigsaw and sand & polish the edges. Voila! you have clear mudflaps which aren't very noticable (but the trick is you have to keep them clean). I've seen this on a couple cars and I think it looks better than rubber flaps.
