D@mn big plates!!!
Okay, I've given up!
Over here in Norway we have some big @$$ license plates - but a year or two ago they introduced these new small plates for vehicles that doesn't have the room for big plates like the japaneese and european cars. However, you only get these small plates if the original place for plates cannot hold the big ones - meaning if it is physically not possible to fit it in there without bending the cr@p out of it or cutting it apart.
So, I went to the place to get my plates a while back, and got the small one on the back as there simply is no room for a big one. I was also sure that I would get it up front, since the original bracket is not large enough for the big ones +it will interfere with the foglights.
Well, I was WRONG! They said the "DMV" has stated that blocking of extra lights and air passages to the radiator are not excuses good enough to get the small plates.
So, basically Im out of luck and now have a big @$$ plate covering half of the foglights. I chose to remove the bracket as it looked completely retarded to have the plate on it....
My question to you guys - what would you do to make it look as good as possible? Im guessing the fogs just have to go...?
D@mn this is p!$$!ng me off! If no small plates were available I wouldn't throw such a fit, but this is rediculous!
Here is a pic of what it looks like now (oh, and yes - I know I haven't gotten rid of those last two ugly blue bulbs

Yeah, I agree the long skinny one is better than the square one.

I guess I would take the fogs off and either leave it with that grille, or get an RS grille. I think the square plate looks bad too. Maybe you should move back to the states

Ken,
What about attaching it to the air damn under the car? I've seen a few guys here in NY do that to get around the Stupid front plate law. Wonder if they're morons over there too? Oh yeah...why are you over there again?

The main reason why they use front plates us because in most places the cops don't sit on the side of the road shooting radar, they have camera's that shoot radar. When you are going fast enough they take a pic of the car and driver. In that pic it has you and your plate. I don't like the way they look.

The plates on the camaro don't look that bad but I feel for freeze. Flat plates just look bad on all 91-92 birds. Good thing those are such awesome looking cars it doesn't really detract from it.

Just to add the UK....
Since Septemeber last year, when they tightened up the rules, we are the same as Norway in that you can use smaller digits (as used on motorcycles) if the space is physically too small - so on the front I should fit a "normal" plate, but on the back I can fit a 12x6" plate with smaller digits. I have pressed aluminium on the front anyway

edit: here's a pic of a "legal" UK plate with small digits - sorry it's not a 3rd gen - it's my latest "run around"

Ahhh, glad to hear so many of you don't think it looks that bad. I guess what bothers me the most is that it covers up the foglights, and that I simply hate being treated like a "criminal" for wanting plates that actually are legal and available.
Oh, regarding the square plate, yeah - I wish it would be a better fit so that it filled up the space equally to US plates. When you get permission to use the small plates you can choose between the small square one and a small version of the skinny one. The little skinny one is about the with of the US plates, but only about 1/3 of the height - which makes it look even more retarded than the little square one. We ALSO have a large square one, but it is way too big.
Here is a sloppy pic of a large square one up front on my Tahoe:

And, this shot of the IROC shows the front plate on an angle. It doesn't look as bad then as it does head on. Oh, and of course it shows some very dirty rims...LOL

FLYINLOW92rs,
I had the Camaro over in the US while I lived there. I moved back to Norway this summer and brought the car along with me.
MetalliCamaroRS,
Yeah, I might just have to lose the fogs. I don't know if I can make myself go to the RS grille though..
I do have a few other ideas in mind that I might try though..
Moving back to the US? Yeah, I gotta admit the thought has struck me..LOL Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens down the road - considering the wife is american and so on...
PopaPork,
I'll get in trouble if I put the plate on the airdam - but believe me, I've actually looked into it. The thing is though, with the car being as low as it is, it simply would be impossible to see unless you're lying in the street LOL.
Why am I here? Im originally from here but went to the US to go to college. So, basically Im back here to work with the company that I used to work with before. They DO have quite a few sites over in the US too, so who knows what'll happend down the road
JACKO,
Tell me about it man! They were large in the first place - and then last year they increased the letters to make them easier to read. Go figure! We also have a ton of those photo/radar boxes and I guess that is another reason why they want the letters very visible...
MrsLottaBallsCamaro,
I wish I could just take it off, but Im looking at at least a $150-200 fine if I go that route... Our fines SUCK!
Freeze,
I feel for ya' man!!

Glad I live in Michigan. No front license plates required and they look pretty good.
Actually the long plate isn't that bad, but the rear one looks goofy. It hangs down.
