$10 is a steal on those.

Yes, use VHT niteshade, at nite, you can't even tell it's on.

i think it's legit because when the lights come on they're still bright even through the tint

I did some reading a while ago about the whole "black out" thing, and this is for Texas, I'm not sure about anywhere else, but for it to be legal, a driver has to be able to see the red reflecting surface at a certain distance away.

I never really liked the stuff too much... IMO it makes the lights look dirty. But I guess it could look good if you put some clearcoat over it.

I think you should put a big flashing strobe on top of your car to make it easier for the Soccer Mom's to see you. Just like schoolbuses.

No make it two. You can't be too safe. Actually, for the ultimate in safe you could wear a padded beanie with a strobe on it for when you happen to be walking; you know, for when you're away from your "safe" car. Maybe strap a couple of pillows to you in case you fall down. Wear goggles all of the time so you don't get something in your eyes.

As a bonus you can change your screenname to dansSAFE82birdthatwon'tEVERgethitbyanSUVcauseitssafe. *sigh*

Illegal? Please, do tell, illegal according to what statute? As was stated earlier, you have to be able to see the lights from a certain distance, and they have to show red.

I had the Wade blackouts (the black lexan over the lights) on the back of my 91 camaro rs, and just the other day i got a tick for them. you can see the lights just fine, day and night, but the reason that the cop bi*ched was because it covered the reflectors and it didnt reflect red when a light was shinning on it. i dont know if yours is the same (since ur painting on the inside), but from experience, make sure you reflect red when a light is shinning, and you shouldnt have any trouble.

You know...... break lights were disigned like they are for a reason. and you can't see those lights, it really could be dangerous. so dont be so hard on dans bird. i have seen alot of black outs and they do just that.... BLACK OUT your lights, i have yet to see one that doesnt significantly dim the lights and eliminate the reflective aspect of the tail lights.... just my 2 cents

I don't have the GTS blackouts anymore, as one flew off, but I was never pulled over for them either. I got pulled over for speeding once, and the cop didn't say anything. Just don't act dumb when driving and you should be fine, I do have the spray on the front lenses though.

I have GTS blackouts on mine. I was pulled over once at 4am for doing 100 in a 45 (got it fixed ) The cop was PISSED but still didnt get me for the blackouts. Then two days after I got the new motor running I went out and got 3 tickets...one for no seatbelt (reinstalled seat....and the buckle was smashed under it) no insurance (wrong card in car) and a bad registration. I also had a bad inspection sticker but he didnt look...I know I should have been driving the car but it was down forever and everything expired in that time LOL Once again nothing said about the blackouts,

I wanna know how blackouts are illegal...those berretas come with blacked out taillights factory,

This might have some real truth to it. My 88 fiero has factory "blacked out" taillights.. they certainly don't reflect red and they are quite dark. (I like them!) But, lower in the bumper, there is red reflectors inset into the bumper that certainly DO reflect red.

hmm.

dont know if it works on niteshade, but for turbo tint spray, polish the lights about 3 hours after painting, with regular body polish, autoglym works great.

I think that's how the lights in the pic at the top of the page were done, i've seen people try to paint them from the inside, it looks awfull.

might just be how i applied it, but defore i tryed polishing the lights on my olds, i tryed clear coat. it must have been incompatible with turbo tint, coz it cracked up a few days later, so i had to strip it all off and start again.

u see tho, ur fiero still reflects red to the back, just not necessarily on the lights, so ur ok.

i'm thinking that since the light from your tail lights can go through the tint without losing its brightness there's no reason the lights from someone's headlights can't reflect off of them through the tint

well i got the GTS taillight covers and even in the day light u can see the reflectors shine thru them, so i guess thats kool. and day or night u can see my turn signals, stop lights and parking lights. dont ask about the reverse light they just stopped working a few months ago.

also about that VHT stuff, there was this one Civic that would come into Pepboys to get work done to his car from time to time and at first i thought he had the blackouts on his car but he used the VHT stuff and u could tell he painted them untill u would see where the reflector is becuz its indented abit. but the guy had to scrap the stuff off becuz he made them too dark at night.

i still like the blackouts better then the VHT stuff, the black outs give it a more cleaner smoother look. expecially on a black car

I can't truly speak for the nite shades, cause I've never seen them in person, but I can personally speak for the covers. I have been pulled over numerous time myself for the covers. It might just be a state or city thing, but around here, you don't run them legally. I used to get very upset when I'd get in trouble with running the covers, and I'd think that the cop was just giving me a hard time. UNTIL, I was behind another car running the covers. The sun was shining on the back end of the car. He hit his brakes, and I NEVER SAW THE LIGHTS. It was close, but I didn't hit him. That day, I took mine off and never put them back on. I think they look great, but for everyones safety, on a bright sunny day, leave them off. They make your brake lights invisible.

Ok, looks like a lot of you guys are misunderstanding. After you put nite shades on, the light shines through it as if the tint was not on the lense so you can see if fine still. There are cars that have tail lights like this from the factory where they're dark but you can still see the light fine, Berettas/Corsicas come to mind. I drove down to Summit last week and picked up a can, I'll probably do my lights in the next couple months when I have time.
