First pics of my ride, before and after...
My car was painted this summer but I haven't had time to "finish" it yet. I still need to hand glaze the paint, replace the interior, and add the new silver emblems. Of course this winter I will lower it, rebuild suspension, etc...

the color was called black saphire metallic. It was used on 80's Buicks, etc.. looks blue in sunlight, black at low light conditions.

tight color man good job on the paint yea i agree with you on the lowering thing it looks too high and i'd put some low pro tires and chrome rs rims on it just to give it some effect other than that so far the car looks hella good
Thanks. The color was called Black Saphire Metallic. I don't think it turned out as dark as the sample but I am happy with it. It is an 80's GM color. I have seen it on some FWD buicks and Oldsmobiles mostly. Looks pretty close to Navy Metallic in the sunlight.

The car looks great. Now if you can just learn how to crop an image.
Out of curiosity, what made you choose the old-style hood?

Jim, I like the openings in the hood, it is lighter, and it was in perfect condition.
Yeah I didn't realize those would need cropped after being resized. I know for next time.

Hey Man, car looks SWEET!
The Motor looks real good too! Is it a 305 or 350? It being blue makes me wish I would of painted mine blue instead of orange. What color engine paint is that, It doesn't look like GM Blue, Is it some type of Ford blue?
What kind of alternator bracket is that, I don't recall seeing that kind before?
Thanks!
A older pic of my motor, (I know....to much orange right?) Read sig for mods to come!

actually that color was used on firebirds and camaros, my camaro is that color from the factory, although i had it repainted and it's only single stage for now
its lighter then it should be.

fast83,
The alternator bracket is a $2 turnbuckle from the hardware store. It works excellent. The engine paint is F%RD blue. I wish it was darker now. I had no idea what color the car was going to be when I chose it. It is a standard bore 350 4-bolt mains.

Looks great. I like the color also. Looks like it needs to be lowered a tad, like you said. But please dont put any 15 inch RS wheels on that car, it would ruin the looks so bad IMHO. Just polish the 16 inch IROC wheels you have. Heres one.
Yeah it was a complete color change (except the inside). The windshield was removed and replaced with a new one even though the old one wasn't cracked. The paint isn't perfect but it isn't a show car either. I got a very good deal since I know the painter shop owner.

Very nice car, by why did you get rid of the cowl ?? The most crappy pictures had no cowl, then you had a cowl, then you went to that current hood ? What happened to the cowl ? I said cowl like 5 times! ...... Anyway, what did you do with it, and what about the windshield ! I am poor, and need things like those that you dont need. If the color of the car in the picture with the cowl was your current color, and you put stripes like before, that would have been better (in my humble opinion) Anyhow, very nice car either way...
Wow, I haven't posted for a while. Now that it is 25 degrees out I should have more free time.
My best time this summer was a 13.8 @ 101 mph. This is with the th350 shifting at 5000 rpm. That is supposedly below my peak power for the XE268 cam. I now have a complete black interior, megashifter, and secondaries metering block installed. Also got a B&M trans governor kit to adjust the shift points to higher rpm and a Summit electric billet fuel pump, both waiting to be installed. I hope to get into the 12's next year with more tuning, drag radials, and rear suspension improvements and maybe Nitrous.
I traded the original IROC hood for the junk cowl hood. I changed my mind when I found the perfect '82 plastic hood.
I got 16 mpg on a four hour trip with a few full throttle runs on the highway. That is turning 3000+ RPM the whole time. It will probably manage 17 with a lot of driver restraint.

man 3.73 and a th350 on the highway! that just sound like it wouold suck. i have a 700r4 and 3.73. 70mph~2350rpm and it just drones on and on and on. 3000+ rpm would suck. i have true dual exhaust too though.3000 is like 88-90 mph for me.
that was with no interior...I almost couln't take it after about half an hour. It is much, much better now with a full interior and no long freeway trips, ha.
3000 rpm is only like 62-66 mph... so it was very slow as well
