Polished my new shifter handle....

i decided to buy a new shifter handle for my B&M since mine is far from being able to polish up so i spent 20 bucks and got a new alumin one and polished it up in 2 hours and then painted the red insert they had around the letters black.

Nice job man...real nice. Ill have you agree with what someone suggested to me though....mothers is a great product...dont get my wrong....but i went out and tried Blue magic metal and wheel polish....and WOW......what a difference.....i could see myself perfectly in it........really does make a difference....it was a lil harder to get off...but once you do....man....major improvement. IMO though.......

Looks good man. I had one on my B&M Ratchet Shifter that I also polsihed, but I had to switch to a plastic one. The metal got so d@mn hot after sitting in the sun for a short while I couldn't even touch it to put the car in gear. I now have a black plastic one, it looks okay but atleast I can bang gears on a hot day.

i think it would be worth burning the crap out of your hand to get the polished one back on there butt that is just me, i think i am going to steal the handle off of my brothers mega shifter to see if it will fit on my 5 speed, any try it so i dont get hurt or do i have to do it the HARD way.

wow, they charge 20 bucks for those things?

My metals instructor in high school had in the shop a mold for one of those handles, except it said hurst instead. And for the ones that turned out to be keepers, they were free . All the messed up molds went back into the scrap pile.

I look around for a picture of the beauty that I made...

Wow nice! How hard was it to paint that terrible red part around the B&M logo black? Could you post how you did it? I've been thinking about doing that to mine because I can't stand the crappy red paint. (Btw, I'm a moron, I have no clue how to prep or paint things.)

Not trying to be a d1ck, but it's your hand. Just wait for a hot summer day when your car has been sitting outside for a while. Plus the black plastic doesn't look that bad b/c it matches the rest of my black interior.

all i did to paint the red to black was get some black touch up paint but not the stuff u find in pepboys that stuff is to wattery. but my brother had some touch up black paint that he bought i think at strauss auto and its thick so its easier to work with. but all i did was first i used some chapstick and put it where i didnt want the paint to go and then after i got the first coat of paint on and it dryed i just cleaned off the chapstick and it worked pretty good but i tryed it with out the chapstick. all i did was paint in the spots where i wanted and when it dryed i just scraped it off with my finger nail and one of my guitar pics. hope that helps. also that black is for a hundiya or how ever u spell that crappy car.

also ive been down that road with the hot summer days and the handel gets really hot. all i do is put it in drive and dont worry or i take a towel and cover the entire consule and there for all it will get is alittle warm. and the plate where the ashtry used to be is alumn. so i use the towel to cover that too.
