Are you actually going to keep that carb? I would definitely get a holley 750 or something..... And the EGR...that definitely has to go...

heavy_chevy29, i've got a question for you 1... are you going to use the carb that's on there now or are you upgrading., #2 if you are going to use that cc-qjet on there, what are you plans for the computer and sensors?
just curious seeing that computer-controlled carb on there, nice motor, the big cubes, brad

thanks for all the complaments.
here are some specs:
1971 400 sb bored .040 over= 408
heads are the stock 441 castings (for right now because i need to keep some of my money)
Edelbrock performer intake w/ Q-jet carb(for right now)
hooker #2055 headers w/ Jet Hot coating
the cam is:
int lif@valve= .442 in
exh lift@valve= 465 in
the guy who helped me build the motor ran this setup on desktop Dyno2000. the hp was 308. the torque is 442 lb ft.
i plan on using the stock carb for the break in. once i get the money, i plan on getting a 750, maybe.
as for that bet that was mentioned, i don't recall making a bet with you

a 400 .040 over? I thought that it wasn't recommended to do more than a .030 overbore on a 400 block?

With most other small blocks, you can safely do a .060 overbore, but I was always under the impression that on 400s you couldn't do more than .030 due to a possible deformation of the siamesed bore from the heat.

.040 is about a 50/50 chance of having a proble. .060 is when you are most likely going to have a problem.
as for etown. i have no idea when im going. i will let you guys know when i go.
