Pics of Firebirds with no spoiler?
Pics of Firebirds with no spoiler?
anybody got pics like this? I'm considering removing my spoiler before I paint the car, I'm undecided, so any pics would help. Thanks. :hail:

I've seen plenty of pics of Birds without spoilers and YUCK...is my personal opinion. To me, it totally takes away from the lines of the car.

i didn't used to like the idea at all either.. until i saw Zephyr's car without a spoiler on it. I liked it a lot, and since then I advised a friend to do it to his T/A. I think if there's gonna be no spoiler, though, there better be ground effects.
i think theres a certain style about not having a spoiler in this, the day of wings. plus that lack of 25 or 30 pounds really brings those rear hatch struts to life.

My S/E has no spoiler and the more I look at it the more I like it. To me the standard flat spoiler on the early 82-84 birds looks good but they seem to take away too....its wierd and hard to explain.
I like it with out the spoiler just as much with one.
in this picture the old school taillights are in....don't like the looks of it with no spoiler...

Here is one pic with the 85 T/A taillights. The rear of the car looks much better with them in and no spoiler too.

I didn't think it would look good til Zephyr had it. I think they look great without one, but they don't look bad with one either.

I don't have a real good side shot at the moment... I'll try and locate one... but if you look from the side the car doesn't look to bad without a spoiler. It looks real smooth.
I think alot of people like the "california camaro" which didn't have the spoiler on it. looked real aerodynamic.

If I had ground effects, I would do the no wing look. No wing without groundeffects looks too plain to me. I don't like the low 2 pedestal wing because it is hard to clean under it.

Oh, and you need to have wide enough wheels in the back to make the car look good.
I've some cars with the stock wheels and no spoiler and it doesn't look good since the wheels are tucked in too much.
In those pics, I had my 9bolt with 2.25" spacers on the back, made the wheel sit flush with the fender.
With the 4th gen rear you can see that the wheels tucked in just a little bit,

I don't know what it is, but Zepher's TA looks like a vette in a couple of those pics. Maybe it's because of the Camaro ground effects with no spoiler. Dunno, but this isn't the first time I've seen those pics, and it's not the first time I thought it.
The fact that It's kinda late might have made me dilusional. I dunno, but I think it looks good.

depending on the angle, Firebirds look just like Vettes. My friends 82 looks like it has a Vette front end on it, the angle of the windshields and fender slope look similiar.

E-brake isn't hook up and there is no tranny or engine in there and I don't want my car to roll off of the driveway.

Here's mine.

That's with no ground effects, and I kinda like the look. Though I'm eventually getting a fourth-gen spoiler anyway.

The guy I bought my Formie from had the spoiler painted and the guy who painted it vanished. Hence....
