Primer?

About half-drifting around a corner a bit down my road, i met a patch of fresh gravel from a gravel truck that had just droped a load in my driveway(my luck sucks).... anyway... i ended up off of the road and up an embankment that twisted and busted the paint off of my front bumper, and front and side ground fx... it looks like white trash now and i need a new paint job.... i was thinkin smooth-dark-black-good primer with some sort of gloss black stripe out of actual paint, but some of the guys that i talked to said the primer would just make it look as trashy, i think itll give it a meaner look... opinions?

i dunno... i think that's one of those things you'd have to see to be able to make an opinion.

where'd you get the idea? any examples?

the only problem (other than looks) with primer is that it will absorb moisture and should not be left unpainted very long or it will cause problems in time.

are you talking about just priming the whole car and leaving it? Back in the day during the 60 and right around there when people didnt have money they would spray there car with either black or gray primer then sealer and then they would spray clear coat over that. it looks really good suprisingly. With the sealer and the clear you won't have to worry about moisture and if you drift a lot then it is really cheap to re-shoot everytime you have a run in with something a little more resistant then the paint. I am thinking about doing this to my trans am until the end of the summer to see if i like it or not.
