Kandied91Z... clean engine post >>
A few days back, you had a post regarding clean engine bays...
Well, I started thinking about it, then went out and "cleaned" mine up a bit.I removed the A/C, made plates for bock offs, re-routed the wires, etc. I am not done yet, but figured I would show some pictures and get some feedback from them. Let me know how it rates..... I know it is far from the cleanest, but I am happy with the way it is turning out so far.

I ran the wires through the support between the inner fenderwell and the fender, then along the inner fender to the front. I had to add about a foot and a half to the wires running to the fans, but other than them, no wires needed attention.
As for ease of removal, the actual removing of the A/C is simple and should be accomplished in just a few hours. I have spent a ton more time on mine only because I wanted to change a few things.
Thanks

Hey Jason,
Engine is looking GREAT! (as well as the rest of the car!!)
Just a quick question, are those Edelbrock TES headers? If so, I see you plugged off the AIR tubes, what did you use? I no longer need to have my IROC AIR equipped, so I'd love to rip it all out but need to plugg those tubes.
Thanks!

Ken

ChevyKen... I used some brass pipe plugs. They came with a hex on them, so I shaved the hex off, then polished them up and used a strap wrench to tighten them. I think it cleans up the engine compartment a ton, and yes, they are Edelbrock headers.
Thunderstick..... I never had planned to sell my engine..? This is the same engine that has been in the car for a few years.... Maybe it was someone else ? When I pull this one out, it is going to go in one of my older Camaros.
Thanks for the compliments!

Yes... that is my question exactly. Where is the heater blower motor? That is pretty much what I want to do with my firewall.... it would be even cooler to relocate the booster...but with the clearance on these cars it's not really an option.

I removed my heat and A/C as well, some areas of my engine bay need to be blasted and painted, but I figured I would leave that until I paint the car, since I'm changing colours....this will do for now though! It's near the bottom of this thread....

run down to your local chevy dealer and get them to order you the replacement caps for the tops of your struts...
cost me all of less than 2 bucks and it will be just one more 'finishing touch' to clean up stuff

An idea I had one day was to mount the alternator where the compressor is located. That way you don't need the mounting equipment for the ac.
I once saw a coil mounted in front of the windsheild underneath the screen. don't remember what that area is called, but thats where the coil was.
nice job on the passenger side wires.
another suggestion would be to purchase a smaller engine overflow container, but it looks great the way it is now. I'm very impressed.

Thanks again for all the compliments.
Justadba... I left the caps off because the struts are Koni adjustables... The caps need to be removed any time changes are made, it is easier to set them on the shelf

Can you do me a favor and show me close ups of each side of the TB?
Also, on the routing of that passenger side plug wires. Ive been trying to do mine like that with TES headers but I havent found a way to keep the wires from hitting the #8 exhaust pipe. What did you use.. or do they actually hit?
