Not too bad I think. Makes it easier to look at now.

I have seen a few with 9.5" That's what I am looking for now myself. I have read that they should fit with a 5.5" backspacing, but good luck trying to find someone with a wheel with those specs. However, I have not been able to confirm the backspacing with anyone who is running a 9.5" wheel.
yeah, similar to that......i'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how short to cut my adapters to fit my wheels.
10.5 in the rear is a bitch so we won't go there so i'll just focus on the 9.5 up front.
do you have a better pic of the front?

I just bought 18x9.5 rims and I am trying to figure what size tires to run in the front. The rims are 2000 C5 wheels all 18" and the tire size for them is 275 40 18 and I am trying to figure out if I need to run 35's on the front or not!
how did you guys get them to fit like that?
did you need adapters? how much room do you have between the rim and the inside well?
18x9.5 with a 275/40 won't fit very well...........i'm having a hell of a time getting my 35 to work right.

Kandied,
When you find out what works, can ya let me know? I should have these rims next week and I will buy the tires the following week, glad someone else is doing the same as me!

well i have 18x9.5 in front and 18x10.5 in rear so i'm sure you can tell what style they are then.
it will be a week or so since the recommended size from skulte leaves a little room for error and i want it as tight as possible so it looks as stock as possible. one thing is for sure with a 275 tire you won't have an easy time with anything other than a 35 series profile.....better invest in a good tire with rim guard.

well I have decided to go with a 275 35 18, Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. I hope they work out for me. Do you have any pics of the wheels on your car? Thanks for the info!
Special Features:
Advanced Silica tread compounding for superior wet & dry traction and handling.
Large lateral and center channels provide maximum water evacuation.
Advanced directional tread design for superior acceleration, braking and cornering.
Two durable nylon cap plies give high speed stability and resistance to centrifugal forces.
Two wide steel belts provide excellent cornering power and stable footprint.
Rim Protector in the lower sidewall safeguards wheel against scratches and abrasions.

yeah i looked at those myself, not a bad tire. i was torn between the michelin pilot or the toyo proxies....i went for the proxies because of the price of the pilots. the fronts are 275/35/18 y and the rears are 295/35/18 y.
i assume your going through skulte for your adapters? what offset are your rims? what company are you getting them through?

Well I am getting the spacers from Roy at Third Gen Resource, same price $160. They are the stock offset, Tom at Tbyrne (where I got the wheels from) said I should have no problems with a 2" spacer.
I looked at Skulte for the adapters and they want 150 for the 2" spacers and 10 for shipping so it comes out to 160 too.
I thought the Kumho's seemed good for the price and for the features. When i dump the 305 and put in a stroked LT1 then I will see about better tires.
Thanks for the help.

nothing wrong with those tires....i just liked the tread pattern of the toyo or i might have bought them myself.
that's cheap for the adapters! i think i have a little over 300 into mine.
as far as 2", it dependson what the offset of the wheel is. do you know the offset; you should.
i know andris uses a 2" or even a 1 3/4 for some of the smaller 9.5. if you have someone that can help mil a bit off if needed then you should be fine. however; not all rims are made equal.
find out the offset and post it here, otherwise you could end up with wheels sticking out rather far.

my 18x9.5's in front have an offset of 5.454" while the 18x10's in the rear have an offset of 5.875". The tires are Toyo Proxes T1-S in sizes 275/35/18 and 295/35/18. This is set up to run without spacers. Also, car is not together so no pictures and I can't tell you if there are any clearance issues either.

well the girl that answers the phone at tbyrne said the paper says that its 65, I am assuming thats mm, (2.5") and I know the 5 star SS wheels are like 56 mm (2.25"). When I get the tires on I will have to check and see if I need a 2" or 2.25" spacer or not I guess! But yeah I don't want them to stick out, that is why I am thinking the 2" should be ok! I hope!!
Yeah 160 for 1 set of spacers is the going rate, I have a 4th gen rear so I shouldn't need spacers for the back!

If you're looking to get the rims as tight as possible, the options are to either get a custom thickness adapter or to order slightly thicker adapters, try them on, and once you know how much you want to shave off, then press out the studs and have a machine shop turn them down for you (from the outside face). If you're not sure, I've exchanged billet adapter sizes plenty of times in the past. This season I'd like to run the 18x10.5 Z06 rims on all four corners
Wow amazing. I thought it was impossible to run 10.5's in the front. Cant wait to see it. As for me, I went with a 8" wide in the front. This will give the wheel more room in the fenderwell so it can be dropped a little lower for shows. I went with the same idea in the rear ... went 9.5 instead of 10.5. I plan to drive the car daily so I didnt want to chance any drivability. Tires will be 255/40/zr18 front 275/40/zr18 rear, and ride height controlled by weight jacks (3.5" drop for shows, 2" drop for daily driving). I didnt go with 35 series tires because the roads around here are really bad in some places and I fear the rim will get dented. But the 35 series will definately give you more leeway if its a tight fit. A guy @ my workplace runs 295/30/zr19's on the rear of his Supra (35's in the front) and he dosnt ever dent his wheels. But I think its because they are 3 piece wheels, while mine are not (Boyds).
andris i wish you luck as you know how much trouble i'm having getting the perfect stance with my 9.5/10.5 combo. there is definately no way i could fit 10.5 up front without alot of fab work and still having them stick outside the well.
a 65 mm offset looks like a fwd hub with the large adapter you need, you definately have to do some serious measuring to make them work. i definately recommend andris though as he has been a great help with my issues.
i agree with going to a smaller rim if you plan to set the car in the weeds, the most drop you could get with these would be roughly 2 1/2 and not expect to rub. although that's with a 35 profile.
i love how they look, just need to get the little quirks figured out.
mike, the tires have rim guard on them as well as a tough a sidewall as i could find. i agree though, one major pot hole not looking and it's over.
but the good side is at least they look good sitting still.

Passengers, again wheels slightly turned left (too lazy to get the keys). This one has a slightly wider angle to show the whole side.
If these aren't what you are looking for, shout!

17x9.5 with 275/40ZR17 Firestone Firehawk SZ50EPs on them. I'm like most of the other Firehawk wheel owners. I had to use the spacer (5/16") on the fronts, and my drivers's side tie rod end had a little square chunk that had to be ground off so that the tie rod didn't hit the wheel when I turned. If I have tire rub at full lock it would only be in reverse, and I rarely do that.
Glad I could help you make that awesome ride look better.

this is a dumb question but you have no idea what offset those rims are do you?
are they the same offset all around so that you can rotate your tires easily or do you have to dismount?
my fronts are a 65mm offset which is alot considering the stock base is 0. just curious what yours are so i know how much it actually is out.
thanks again.
