91-92 camaro gfx on firebird?
i think i saw it before with zepher (spelling?!); just to be sure, my question is can it be done? can the gfx from a 91-92 camaro fit onto a 91 gta? JUST THE SIDE SKIRTS-I've been thinking about this for quite some time now, and wanted to know if its possible, and if so, how it looks!
the pic below is of the side skirts I'm talking about-will they fit!?!?!
thanks for any info-

Oh yes they'll fit. Though you may need to put some kind of filler or fiber glass or make a stud to go behing the emblem so the front part of the rocker gfx will bolt to the fender, or have a emblem made to cover up the hole for it and use the original two screw method into the fender. Try pm'im Zepher and see what he did.

The rocker panel bolts right on, the door pieces need new holes drilled as well as the old holes filled.
There are 6 holes on each side to fill after you do this swap, unless your bird is an 84 which has the lower ground effects, then no holes will need to be filled since the 84 T/A uses the same holes as the 91-92 Camaro rocker and door pieces.

Won't those look funny on a 91 GTA, since it has the... let's just say "unique" 91-92 Firebird style ground effects? What are you planning to do with the front and rear sections? The front probably won't look bad, but mixing the somewhat-flat Camaro side pieces with the upswept 91 rear effects & bumper cover is going to look mismatched. You'd probably have to swap on a 85-90 T/A rear cover & rear f/x to make it look right.

thanks guys, yep thought you had that done zepher! looks sharp! so let me see if i'm understanding u right, the panels under the door don't need new holes-they'll just slip onto my car? and the door panels need new holes and the old ones filled, gotcha. let me ask you, what did u use to fill the the old holes, cause I'm thinking of doing this project, and some other ideas in the spring/summer time, then have the car painted (cheaper that way
) and thanks 4 the info!
Firebird 383, yep thats what I was planing to do-use the gfx from around that year to put on the back- the pic's back bumper is what i had planned-
another question, zepher, you mentioned that an 84 ta has lower gfx, u have a pic of them?

Oh, and Bondo was used to fill in the holes in the door. I still need to have the 2 in each fender and one in each of the rear quarter panels filled.

Zeph, what did you put in the emblem spot? i can see theres something in there -- i think -- but i cant tell what it is.
it looks pretty shallow actually... you think it'd be pretty easy to fill in?

There is masking tape residue over the top of it, that is why it looks all scratched.

91fbirdgta,
The 91-92 Camaro Ground effects indeed will look kind of wierd on your 91. You won't have the same holes to fill as Zepher did because the 85-90 TAs bolt up differently than the 91-92 sides.
Zepher,
Thanks for the info on mounting the sides. I am thinking about adding 85-90 Camaro sides, but without the door molding. I would have to modify it a bit to match the TA front I am also planning on.
