Hood Pins?
I am going to be buying a fiberglass hood soon and am a little concerned about the strength and also about the hood flying off at high speed. Alot of people have talked about using hood pins to keep the hood down, but I really don't want those sticking out.
Now my question, on summitracing.com I found a set of hood locks made by mrGasket don't have the pin sticking out. I was wondering if it would be possible to mold them into the hood, or to install them and then mold them in using body filler or having someone mold it in using more fiberglass. There is a picture at summitracing.com under the hood pins section of the online catalog.
THANKS!!

Yeah, I know that hood pins would be the best way to go I just don't want it to look like I have hood pins. With the clip and the wire wrapped around and all. I want the car to have a very clean look when I am done without the big aluminum discs on the hood.

It isn't that I don't like the look, just don't want them on my car. I don't think that I want them on mine. I want my car to have a real clean look, as little extra as possible.

Who's hood do you have? I've been running an ASCD hood for three years now, with no pins, and it shows now signs of fatigue. ASCDs are probably the best in terms of quality and durability. Harwood and others say you need hood pins, ASCD says they're not necessary.

I've got the locking type pins. I love em. They're not arrogant but just right. I broke my hood latch and needed a quick fix. I still need to fix the hood gap.

Speecat-- I don't have the hood yet. I am getting the jongbloed hood that andy89rs and his friend are making.
No4njunk-- Those are exactly what I want. Do they work well, hold the hood down well etc... How hard would it be to mold them into a hood?

It took some drilling and fabbing but it hold very well and is very easy to use once installed. I have to adjust the hood a little but haven't had time. If you want I can take some time and write down everything I did and where I did it. Just let me know.

i know what your talkin about. i didn't want to put pins on my car b/c i thought it would look horrible. once i put them i, they kind of grew on me. now i love the way they look. the hood never shakes. i would put them on just in case.
