MSD Box install pictures

Hey, i tried a search a few times and was unsuccessful. For some reason it does not accept "pictures" for me. So i looked through a lot of threads about just the boxes with little to no luck. I would just like to see where you guys have put yours. Anything creative? Inside the pass. compartment or engine bay are fine. Anything really! I am thinking of mounting it to the rear of the drivers side inner fender wall, near the master cylinder. Any other ideas. Thanks for your time-later

How did you do that? Is it just sitting on the vacum canister or did you fab up a bracket? Looks good, different, but still good IMO. Thanks- anyone else?

Wow, clean motor swap Z28 Boy. Looks good. You have a few holes in the firewall, but it still looks really clean. So, how is it without wipers? I was thinking of taking the motor out since i hardley ever drive it in the rain. Anyone else with pictures of them installed? thanks

I just installed mine too..haven't wired it up yet cause I'm waiting on my wiring harness...I welded some brackets in my welding class and mounted it above my battery. I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow.

Good job man glad to hear it worked out alright.

thanks for the replies guys. Some creative ideas here. Still don't know where i should put mine. I kept the a/c so there goes one spot. I think the best way will be placing it in different spots and choosing the best spot for me. Thanks again. By the way, more pics are always welcome! later

I moved the relays from the firewall to the top of wheel well, just behind the strut. Made a bracket to bolt where relays where and then bolted MSD box to bracket.

dont put it here. and then when ur distributor or starter i forget which he said goes cut the wires so that the thing is useless. learn from other's mistakes, especially previous owners.

What a coincidence! Just last weekend as i am finishing my swap, i removed the relays and moved them to the top of the firewall and in their place i plan on putting the MSD box. Hey 88GTAinRI, do you have the MSD 6AL with the rubber mounts, or no? I only ask b/c i am figuring out how to mount the box there with them on it! Thanks for any help and thanks for the pic. later

I actually have the 6BTM box, same as the 6AL only it has boost retard. I cut a piece of aluminum a little bigger than the outside of the ign. box. Then I marked the holes for the box to be secured too. I drilled those holes out and secured (4) 1/4" bolts through the holes with 1/4" nuts. Then I measured the where the box would be on the fire wall and drilled two holes to mount the aluminum to the existing holes that the relays where secured too. After aliminum plate was secured to the firewall, I installed the bushings over the 1/4" studs, placed the box over the studs, and tightened the box down.

Here's some pics of the MSD 6A mounted in the IROC I'm parting out. The MSD is sold, but I just put the custom mount on Ebay cheap, so if anybody wants it, let me know and I'll end it early. It looks clean, as shown, and it uses existing mounting holes, which made it super easy to install ( I tested the box in my IROC ).

I did the A/C Box delete and it made a HUGE space increase, ease in working on engine, and the perfect MSD spot.

Yeah, i have seen them on the console right next to where the passanger's knee would be. Looks tacky IMO. Sometimes things just "look better" concealed! This thing could go eitherway i would think.

MSD boxes themselves suck....i have had 2 of them die....everything was hooked up right...mounted right...they just took a crap...

heres a goooood suggestion for all u HEI guys....get the MSD ultimate HEI kit...comes with MSD module to bypass the box..coil..cap...rotor...coil cover...

it was the best $140 i ever spent.....its much smoother and more powerful than the damn 6al i had...

it sure helps not to have that AC box there huh? i think that im gunna get a small overflow bottle and bolt it to the radiator so it frees up some room and just make a braket or 3M supertape/e-z pass tape it there. Anyone using the 6AL? or is the 6A fine?

the only difference between the 6A and then 6AL is the AL has a rev limiter...
