I agree. I think a measurement would need to be done to see how much actual height you would have to work with. I would guess you could get a slim driving light that would not be cut off by the height of the bumper. But then the front rail comes across right there and it would further limit you. I would really have to look at a 91-92 style car and I don't know of any by me that I can mess with.
The 91-92 style headlights are actually smaller then the 82-90 because the front bumper comes up flush with the hood.

ok so heres the deal . . .i made some drawings of what its gonna look like, and it'll pretty much look like a 300(z or x) nissan-
i went to the home depot yesterday, got some plexiglass, special epoxy for binding glass and plastic together-cause the outside piece is gonna be glass, and the rest(the casing) is gonna be the plexiglass, and some special (can't think of the name right now-they layer of stuff you put down before you paint) that allows you to paint to plastic
I also looked at redraif's page just to get an idea of whats to come-and i was thinking that "a project of this magnitude
" would take about a month-cause I don't want it to look half-assed! i want it to look professional
just a quick ques-does anyone know off the top of their heads what headlight is about 3inches high and no longer then 5-6inches? I was thinking a 93ish camaro-but their headlights are what 4inches right? thanks

Some early ols cutlasses and pontiac grand prix had the small headlights. They are probably the same as the Camaro though...
I have yet to get my hands on one of those cars at the Junk yard yet to measure though. Joes 97 camaro is in my basement...doing work on it...I will try to get a quick measure tonight and let you know tomorrow...

No prob! Glad someone is giving the conversion a shot. I was starting to wonder if I was going to have to get a 91-92 car so I could try one out!

yea i always wondered what it would look like on my car-now its time to stop wonderiing and start doing!!!
think i figured out what headlight casings im gonna use- 4x6 diamond cut! its like what i have in my headlights already but not the 5x7's-looks great, just wished it was 3in instead of 4in, just gotta make the depth i originally intended a little deeper

You have to be really careful though. If it has to sit low enough to follow the hood line you might loose most of your bulb coverage to the backside of the bumper cover... that would really mess up your night visability... The focus of the light has to clear the top of the back of the bumper cover, or you will get nothing shining on the road infront of you! You are better to have a shorter headlight that can sit higher!

ok a 97 camaro headlight is approx 2- 1/4 at its face 2- 1/2 at its largest part. The width is approx 5- 1/2 at the face and 5- 3/4 at the largest... I think this is the closest you are going to get to your dimensions. Go to a parts store and look at some of sealed beam style headlights. I think there are some that they are this size... See if the size suits you. Then try to track down an after market camaro style...

Thats where my knowledge ends. To guess I would say maybe an aftermarkket diamond cut or other style might, but those headlights are designed to be used as a pair one bight, one dim...so the chances of using a dual bulb, like and h-4 is probably not going to happen. Though I could be wrong. I would go to auto zone or the like and get then to pull up the headlight for that car. See what bulb or sealled baem headlight is calls, for. Go pull one off the shelf and look at its terminals. That will tell you alot.
Worst case you may have to use the single as your dims and add a fog light for the brights! Like the guy did in the pic.
