Body Kit for 82 Base Camaro?
Body Kit for 82 Base Camaro?
Hey I'm picking up a 82' Camaro next weekend for free. The guys son lost interest in it...and now he wants it out of the garage. He says the body is straight and there's no rust. He said the kid took some "stuff" (he didn't know) off the engine, but he has all the parts and even a spare motor for it. He said the car ran strong the last time it was running, so I decided that I'm going to pick this up for a project car.
I don't know if it's the Base model Camaro or the Berlinetta. I think it's the Berlinetta though because he says it has a v6 (i'm assuming the 2.8L)
Now what I want to know is if and where I can pick up a body kit for this car. I like the RS and the Z28, will they fit? Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

as far as i know any of the gfx will fit, you might have to add a hole or two to mount it but they should all bolt on
sounds like you found a nice project car, good luck

they are hard to put on ask 85SportcoupeTo89RS, he put ground effects on his 85 base camaro, i tried but but gave up on the sides becuase they mount on the top and thee is nothing on a base model car to mount then to in that area, also the sides of the front spolier are hard to mount again because of no holes in the fender, u will need both front and rear bumpers also, but it does sound like a good project car, if i were u id kep it a SC, when i had one i didnt like the look of them, but now i wanna get one to restore

I did mine the easy way.
Make templates out of cardboard with the locations of the holes in it. All in all the project is tough to complete cause it takes some patientence to finish up correctly. The rocker panel gfx's need to have a bracket made or cut off of another car and welded onto your's. I made my own out of thin sheet metal and bent them to fit flush onto the body and still be level with the mounting surface on the rocker panel gfx. I'll attach a pic of what you need to make templates of. The front and rear bumpers will bolt right up to the fenders with no modifications, you may need to do some trimming to the crash absorber to get the bumpers to fit in place since you have an 82. Then come's the fun part with all the drilling and some minor filing if needed. I even had to add the spoiler to the car as well. I guess the person who bought my SC wanted a camaro just to have one, my car was base of the base cars available. heres the pic of the finished product, I wish I still had pics of my sc when it still was just a regular sport coupe.
