Wrecked Cars

I attempted doing a search before posting, but guess I didnt word things quite right or something b/c I ended up at dead ends. The only site I found was www.wreckedexotics.com and it had no camaros on it.

I've been trying to find a web-site of wrecked 3rd gens. I'm curious as to how they hold up in various accidents. I have a 3 year old daughter that is in the car 98% of the time. And yes I am one of those paranoid parents. So over-all I'm just trying to see how our cars hold up.

Thanks in Advance to anyone who may have an answer.

my first car, rear ended a van going 55 mph and they were going about 30 mph. locked up the brakes and slid into the van.

first and only accident my fault.

windshield cracked, t-tops stayed on, dash cracked, my seat belt held me back.

www.iroc-z.com (if its still up) has a site dedicated to wrecked cars. I also think Jim85Iroc has a site dedicated to smashed 3rd gens also.

AFter looking on autos.msn.com, I saw that the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test Results gave the 1992 Camaro 4 out of 5 stars on both driver front and passenger front crash results. There was no data availble before 1991. However, this should be consistant with all third gens.

"NHTSA rates crash-tested vehicles by assigning them one to five stars, with five stars indicating the most injury protection and one star indicating the least protection. "

I don't know if this link will work, but here it is just in case:

last set...The rear of the car....ouch!

The guy we bought it from was doing 140+ and wrecked it. NO he did not have the rallys and that spare tire on it....we put those on there for transport.

He lived through this. G0D was really looking over that man.

this is just a string of pics, so will be slow to load. It was a head on collision with a minivan, impact at 45mph I think. No damage to the interior, despite buckling the sides behind the doors. Actually, the gas pedal felt crooked, so the floor was a little deformed. I just wish I had had an airbag.

Before and After

This was my old 86 Sport Coupe. The top pic is after a lady in a minivan pulled out in front of me (I had already started bodywork by pulling off the side molding and stripes). The bottom pic is after the Z28 parts, cowl hood and custom paint were done.

So all in all they seem to hold up pretty well.

The only major major one was dude doing 140. Like guy on radio said "Dont drive faster than your guardian angel can fly"

On that wreckedexotics site found a pic of a corvette with a jeep cherokee on top of it. It was the picture clipped out of newspaper and it said that both ppl walked away without injury.

I removed the airbag from my car and went with an aftermarket steering wheel. Mainly b/c weight for it is 115 and I'm a small girl and well I dont meet that or even come close. I do wear my seatbelt though.
