Hello there. Kind of new to this side of thirdgen.org. Im mostly in the motor swap forum since Im finnishing up a 383 install in my 91 rs. Moderators Im sorry if this is in the wrong section but I kinda figured it had something to do with it.

I bought my car for near nothin and it looked and ran like ****.
Now a year or two later I am 17 and a Junior in high school with a completely restored car that has ended up being critisized about so much. As in a bunch of guys sayin its a piece of **** and all. Well every pay check I have gotten in the last year has gone into my car so u could say its a reflection of myself. I did everything the way I wanted it. It looks mostly stock I will get pics of it up tonight. But what pisses me off is that everyone calls it a piece of **** because its old. Does anyone else get this too? I have already gotten into some good races (good thing about people thinkin its ****ty) and won alot of money. But look in my sig at my mods and tell me a story or two.

damn, 2.6 seconds off your 1/8 mile time is damn good. I get that from my friends with newer cars about owning a car thats 15 years old, but then when it comes down to who's is faster even my stock 305 tpi can beat them all heh. And also, ladies prefer the droptop/ttop look of a car than a regular hardtop econobox anyday. Don't let those guys get to you and keep up the good work

Spending all your money on a car will get old soon. I'm broke now because of mine.

 

Don't let people that don't like your car get to you. I used to let them and trust me it is not worth your time. As long as you like it that is all that matters. Right now my car has a primered fender, 1 tintless window, and a huge amount of door dings. It will get the body treatment next spring or summer, and this summer I am getting a new motor, 6-speed, and other performance mods. I have heard SOOOOOO much crap for my car being ugly and now I don't care.

 

NEVER let someone else change your mind from what you like! If your winning money from them, I suggest scuffing the paint up too. Suck them all in to the trap. You're going to spend your money on something, so it might as well be on what you like. It gets even more fun when you score a job that pays well. Hang in there, and keep the faith!

 

One of the best things you learn as you get older is that it just doesnt ****ing matter what other people think. Im glad I learned this early, now I just wish I could convince some of my friends that its true.

 

i get the same $hit from the kids in my school also, but when it come down to it and i take a strol threw the school parkign lot there realy isnt anything there at all that will keep up with my car or in my eyes looks better there may be alot newer cars there but they are all mostly beaten to death grocery getters.

 

Who cares what others think. Its your ride, you like it, o well.

If they tell you to get a new car, ask them if they will make the car-payments, higher property taxes, and the full coverage insurance, then you might think about it.

If you have done all the work to your car, you have tinkeritus, and new cars don't tend to favor that.

You now also own a piece of GM american history. What new car is going to provide you with that?

welcome to the club...they all take **** becouse there parents buy them bmw and nice all FAMILY cars....there the dumb *** in there FAMILY car...all you can do i laghf and say i wish they would go to the dragstrip...ha ha ha ..when they start talking **** ask um if they want to run! and then tell them that the title is in YOUR name...so its your car not your momies

 

I've gotten all that too, most of the people who have ridiclued my car owned a pos themselfs. Dont let dumb things like that get at you or you'll be kickin yourself in the azz after a few years. Only true friends and car enthusiats will say a car is good based on its condition, where as a jealous person would say a brand new Vette is a pos because its made by chevy :rolleyeys: {I have heard that in real life }

When I was in school, all I had was 4 bangers, but no one had camaro's, so I was undefeated in the race to school my whole senior year. (Not very smart) Police stayed after me. I finally moved away.

i get that stuff all the time before i had my car painted, my exgirlriend used to always say "your car is so ugly im never gonna ride in it" and "its a pos, it loud and sounds like its gonna cut off" now that i got a tune up and my paint, everyone that sees me drive it is like "dude i saw your car yesterday, its awesome looks really nice" my exgirlfriend now says "its so pretty will u drive me to school in it?" u know what i say to her..."no your ugly i dont wanna ride with a ugly person"..lol ya shes mad at me now..oh well, but it really matters 0% what people think of your car, its not theres so they shouldnt comment on it unless its a good comment, say as "if u dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all"

I got that crap when I started driving mine with a primer nose and fender... Since its been painted I've received a little more respect...But I would rather drive a primer 305 Camaro then a 4 door family sedan with a cold air intake and Altezzas that their parents buy for them!

 

Dont worry man! I get it all the time. Im a junior in high school too and the whole school seems to like ricers and hate on muscle cars. Mine isn't in the best of shape but i take to much pride in my ride to let them get to me. I have in the last year got it running and actually looking like it doesn't belong in the dump (cleaning and lots of it! lol)

 

Personally, I like hummers.

 

jgifford, yup sure are the same rims, what are they called? i got mine used off a friend with 4 new tires on them for $50.


back to the topic, i hate the r1cers that drive their moms accord with the euros and fake projector headlights..lol i see them at school with there APC exhaust COUGH: exhaust is not just a muffler :COUGH then i see it later in the food lion parking lot and who do i see driving it? they dudes mom..lol thats funny then i go to skool and tell all his "girls" that he r1ced out his moms car that she still drives, and that they need a guy with his own car like me...which doesnt work they just walk off..lol

 

yeah i know what u all mean, but i dont get it much from people at school, they mostly ask when it will be up at the school, cuz i wont get insurance till the end of the month, the only people who give me **** are the ones who i ridicule for their pos 300zx(Non turbo may i add) and this other kid got a $62000 2002 M3, who i laugh at cuz hes my only challenge at school, and when it comes down to it, im 90% positive ill whoop his a$$ at the end of the month, and then im gunna say lets see how much my car was compared to u and, yes, the ladies love the car, and the guys just want me to take them for rides cuz their hondas cant hit 60 in the mid 5s and run the quarter in 13s, but hey, if they like to drive a car thats not in their name and they didnt pay for and can still have self respect screw em.

 

hey dude, i'm 17 too and a junior.... when i had my 86 SC a few people gave me ****, most liked it, but then when i got the black iroc, the people who didn't like either converted or just got jealous, and the people who liked the other one love this one. one kid in particular talked **** about the 86, he drives a ford f150, POS, he was always like man that thing's so slow, so i always asked wana race? he always declined knowing what was good for him and now doesn't say **** cause he know's my 350 would eat his truck alive. dont worry bout what people say, i in particular didn't buy the car everybody thinks u should buy, i am not a huge fan of big wings and fart cans, some are and that's their opinion. other than some trucks and a few rich kids nothing in my parking lot is to spectacular and even if it was full of bwm's and lexus' etc.... i would still be proud, b/c i drive a car that has ***** and the girls all wana ride in(t-tops help). dont worry what people say, and when u get that 383 in just ask them how much they wana loose this time and walk all over them.

 

Candaians must have better taste or something, I never got any of that **** last summer when i had the camaro on the go, although it always looked like this, the girls love these cars, and any guy you see on the side of the road out here when you go by will stop and look, could be where i live in a small area out around the bay, lol..

I'm not exactly sure what they are, the centers have Z-Racing Wheels. It's a Sears brand. They are just temporary until I can afford to get the 5 spoke Z06 wheels.

 

I am in the army, and I would really like to hear the story behind how that hummer got on top of that car.

 

Screw them man. i have a "friend" who cals my car a trash am and everytime he says it i just laugh and reply with. sholdnt u be driving daddy 4 door cavy? if someone trash talks my car i dont give a sh** cause i paid for mine on my own(17 years old) and im doing it the way i want it. props to ya man and good luck with the jerks at ur schools

 

HAHA Ive heard it thousands of times. Dont worry youll never stop spending that money until you really cant and have bills. I am 22 now and bought my 88 notchback at 15 1/2. I dropped 9k for the car and it has been towed over 13 times. It used to get towed at school so much people would be used to it. Fortunately after lifting they didnt say anything except for crap from my friends. I can produce 34k dollars in receipts if you include the 9k cost of the car. I blew about 7k in repairs when I was younger (so thats 16k)because I could hardley change a tire LOL. Last summer I put about 14k (up to 30k now - this was for 383 motor, 9" rear, rims, tires, engine bay work and paint) into my car and I have already started again this spring with my mufflex exhaust and Ypipe that ran me about a grand. Next to come is a Ram Air II hood and a new paint job with some some ghost flames (probly run me over 1500). Hey its your money and I bet most of the kids at school dont have anything to show for theirs. My brothers did the same and my little brother has already started on his 73 duster (hes a junior 16 1/2). Some day when your car is done and they are driving around in grandma's stationwagon youll get your kicks. Im the one laughing now. Hiphop - Its high school get over it. I had the fastest car and kids in their mommies explorers would still talk **** but when they were left if a cloud of smoke 2 blocks away, i got to laugh.

I miss my GTA dearly, even though i did replace the whole drivetrain and tons of other ****.

lol I dont usually get upset over it. Its just the kids who say "what a pos I bet that thing is so slow" I usually dont say a thing and smile and then ask how much money they got. Its just the ones who wont race me sayin that they are too much for me. And then you got the guy who spits (YES SPITS) on my car every other day. Im gonna get that some bitch one day. I am waiting on a friend to email me the pics we took. You will get to see the s10 I have been working on for him. We dropped it and painted it.
