a bulb wont be that bright. also, ta's use a smaller bulb than a 194 on the shift plate. so you would have to just find a led you want a solder the right resstor on the end of the anode, or get a 12 v led (generally not as bright as a lower voltage).
just a thought

i wish it was that simple but 1, all inside is orange and there is a orange paper i think between the template, and 2 the number just dont light up on mine like in the pic the whole thing does (look so cheap)
so what if i paint the inside of that thing like a baby blue, and then use a blue see though paper type thing under the template.
and then under the template paint it all black except the number and shift out lines, so the light will just get though the letters/numbers.
what u think?>any ideas?

they dont make blue bulbs in that small of a size. you would have to use a led. and it will never turn white. as for the orange, just take the housing appart and remove the orange color from the housing, leaving white, and then it SHOULD have bright blue out put.

I remember that pic from a couple months ago and the guy explained exactly what he did to make it look like that. Try a search.

Yep, thats my camaro..
EL Tape, thats how it was done. The bulb was actually removed completely. Its not that hard to do, just required a little bit of modifications. Its been so long I can't remember exactly what, but its pretty easy to figure out.

The orange filters are glued to the white and gray. If you try to scrape the orange off the other two layers come off also and I tried heating it up also.
Sonar, if you could please try to remeber, I would appreciate it.

Well what you need is a power inverter for the EL tape and the EL tape itself, use the regular wires that go to the bulb as a power source and that is pretty much it.
When you install it, you will have to take off the blue peice of plastic thats like a backing. Also, you may have to "break" your console up to access the areas you need to. Just JB weld or epoxy it back together and it should be fine.
I never took any pictures of the install
I am planning on doing the same thing to an Automatic 4th gen console whenever I get one installed and will take some pics when I do that one. Should be a similar process.
