Cleaning Engine Bay - Help!!
Hey everyone, Now I'm not the brightest when it comes to car mechanics, but I like cleaning cars... It's what I do for a living, seriously
Anyways, me and a friend are still in the process of rebuilding my engine which is a 3.1 V-6. I found that carb cleaner worked great for cleaning out my throttle and plentum. Tonight I used it to clean parts of the engine bay to get the dirt and black gunk off. It seemed to work very well. I did spray some over a few sensor parts that are still plugged in. I didn't get anything into the water jackets and other open areas.
Now my question is this, the engine bay looks really clean, but did I do it the stupid way where I could have screwed something up?
Thanks for any help, Firebirdjoe

LOL... no the top half of the engine is still in the rebuild stage. I have the heads at shop getting milled, I am going to pick them up tomorrow. It should be another week before we fire it up. I have a problem of doing things before thinking

I think I heard that carb cleaner is not good to use in the throttle body. Something to do with a coating on the inside.
I play it safe and use throttle body cleaner.

Dont go to crazy with that carb cleaner. It will eat paint (ask me how I know) It will dull it really bad and if the paint isnt all that good it will bubble it up and it will flake off. I like simple green myself for grease and stuff that has paint under it. Works pretty good and doesnt mess the paint up.
