Is she totaled
Please tell me if my car is totaled. My dad just dropped collision on it because the insurace company will tell me that its 13 years old and not give me any money for it. Insurance would only give me about $3500 for it when I have been offered 10K for it. So the cost to fix it is riding on me. This was at 25mph on an wet onramp and the car literally just slide sideways into the concrete divider. When I got out of my car another car did the same thing and came to a rest about 10 feet behind me. The cops shut down the ramp until it dried because it was to dangerous. I wasn't cited and they told me that it was going under a re design and that I was not speeding or at any fault. If she is totaled I will be heart broken. She has only been out of winter storage for 2 days and has a wopping 35,000 origonal miles on her.

I forgot to mention that the hood is out of allignment, my rear hatch doesn't work, the passenger side front tire is 3 degrees cambered in instead of 90, she rattles like no bodys buisness, and she just shutters and shakes and clicks when you try to start her.

Last one for now. The front tire was ripped open and has a 4 inch slice in it along with a 7 inch gouge.
Damn, your insurance company blows.
That is, 100% repairable, pretty straight forward repair too if there is no suspension damage - as I noticed your riding on a donut.
That's an easy fix, if she does get totalled, take your check and buy it back. That car shouldn't ever see a junk yard.

What you didn't notice Dan was that he just dropped the collision. So he isn't getting squat from the insurance. Take it to a body shop so they can check for hidden damage and get an estimate. Then see if you can swing it, that will determine if it's totaled. Not to be a *****, but I bet you wish you would have taken the 10K offer now.

I didn't take the 10K offer because I was just starting to enjoy the car and all my money was in it. I know there is suspension damage. The front sway bar is bent and the passenger side wheel is out of camber. I have to turn the wheel one full rotation for the car to track straight. I couldn't even get it to start today and the motor turned over a quater turn at a time and shook like hell. I won't get squat from the insurance company, but I wouldn't get anything if I had it anyways. They see it as a 13 year old car worth about 2500. My strut tower brace really really saved the integrity of the front end. My hood is out of alligment but thats it. I really think it helped keep the front end from folding in.
This picture is the passenger side (which did not hit the wall, but notice the tilt of the wheel)

Maybe this is just a nice idea, but if you lost control of your car on the onramp, a few seconds before another car...and the police saw fit to close it, is there no channel you can go down to get compensation from the governing body responsible for the roads? I don't know who that would be in your country, or even if it's worth thinking about....but i thought I'd mention it, even if it's just to learn a little more about your country!
It just strikes me that if the police have deemed you were at no fault at all, that means that someone else was. Someone once said that there's no such thing as an "accident"...someone is always to blame somewhere along the line.

nice title there
But ya - that looks 100 % repairable. You want to see something most likely totalled....scroll down to another thread with the same title.

Well If the repairs are to much, what I would do is buy another car with a shot interior and a good solid body. Running motor optional. Swap your entire interior and drivetrain over if necessary and part out the rest.

For all you Dayton, Ohio people the accident was on 35 west going onto the 75 north onramp. So if you ever go that way and it is wet out, you better just crawl or take another way. I kid you not when I say that I was going under 30mph. I was not cited because the cops said that I was in control of my vehicle but the conditions of the onramp were not safe (hence shutting it down). It does not go on my record and the only thing I had to do was pay for the tow. The only damage I am afraid of is the front end. I know that the sway bar is bent but I am not sure of anything else. I do have some wicked rattles and groans and my hood won't shut without pushing it over as hard as I can with two people towards the passenger side. This sucks so bad it hurts.

Its not looking too well, its all up to insurance unless you haven't told them yet. If you didn't tell them you could get it fixed.

I had another member look at it tonight and we decided that the frame was bent pretty good. The front passenger side is out of camber by roughly 3* or so and the body lines tell the whole story. the hood is pinned against the fender on the driver side and the there is a one inch gap on the passenger side. The doors are also pushed up about an 1/8 inch towards the rear as well. It is just plain twisted. I just hope I can part her out with damn near new parts. I will try to get more pics to show the body lines and how they are twisted. I am seriously about to cry so I am done typing this ****. I was blessed with a beautiful thirdgen but I think it is time to say goodbye.

Don't give up hope yet man. We just went out and popped the hood on my car today....man what a site.
the radiator core support is totally gone. It's pushed in 3-5 inches. One fender makes a 90 degree meet with the core support...and the other a 70 degree. I'm not going to give up. And you shouldn't either.
My baby will see a frame straightener and all new parts before I part her out. Don't be too upset - I'm in deeper than you are.

Sorry man.
Do as another suggested, and get a car with a shot interior and drive train, then swap it all over.
Nice thing about third gen's. They are cheap.
So unless your car burns, all hope is never lost.

Well my dad and I are going to trailer her back to my hometown and take her to a guy my dad knows in the frame business. he will tell me straight up if it is repairable. I will keep you all posted. If he says yes than I will be so happy. However i will have to let her sit until I graduate and can afford the fix. if not i will try to sell her "as is" and get a loan for nice fourth gen LT1

That sucks man!! But if you parted it out you could get more money than selling it as is. If the rims are in good shape I know TONS of people who would want them, if the interior is nice there is some more dough. Just a thought though. Good Luck!
Oh yeah and you might look into getting some money from some one because if the road was that dangerous and it wasn't your fault someone should have to pay! That is
if you ask me!!

FyreLance,
Well look at the gaurdrail and you will see a nice maroon streak that I left.
amish_Z28,
I may part out the car. The interior looks brand new, well the whole car looked brand new before I wrecked it. 35,000 miles kinda does that to a car. The two wheels on the impact side have serious cosmetic damage to them. I have three good tires but I could combine two wheels with two good tires and sell those. The wheels and tires have only 1000 miles on them at the most and the car is packed with a whole slew of bolt ons. Springs, suspension, stereo, you name it. I am gonna get her looked at soon to get the final diagnosis.
