the carb is a holley (im pretty sure on that) and surface rust on non-coated headers is normal, if i were u, id take them out send them to jethot and have them coated enless theres something wrong with the headers you have now.

doesn't look too bad? It may be a fast mover, but let's face it: The car looks like a piece of junk

Not really a piece of junk. There is not rigged up stuff that I can see, the stuff just looks like it really needs a good cleaning.

Man, you need to keep your opinions to yourself! That really pisses me off when someone calls a car (or says it looks like) a piece of junk, just because the paint is not perfect, or the engine is dirty.....

BTW, that is a Holley carb....

I would rather have a bad paint job with a good strong fast engine than a good looking exterior, I think getting a good paint job is easier than getting a great engine.
I know from experiance, I have a great exterior but only a V6. Nothing against my V6 it runs more like a V7 but a 350 engine .... please.

i only paid 1000 canadian for it but only because hes a friend of a friend and he wants it to have a good home (he has no time for it so it just sitting there and people pick at it thats why it dont have a passanger window and missing some interior pices). and the paint is only a year old it look really nice when u look at it, its just dirty and it a cheap digi cam i took the pic with. but the fender has a dent in it and the back bumper is pealing. not bad at all though.

That green one is a late third gen..and all you need is the ground effect (the bottom part)..im sure there's plenty of them in the scrap yards, shouldnt be too hard to find

You need to get a 85-92 front bumper they are all the same and accept either the 85-90 style front spoiler, or 91-92 front spoiler. You will also need to cut the honeycomb absorber on the impact absorber or get a 85-92 one. The bumper will bolt right up to your fenders, you will need to make the slits for the lower spoiler in the bottom of the fender to allow the sides of the spoiler to be bolted up to the side of the fenders.

An open element is going to be cheaper so I would go with one of those first. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE UNTIL YOU GET AN AIR FILTER. Also i don't see any smog equipment on that car. Those plug wires look like 45 degree boots, pretty weird. I would get some spark plug wires with 90 degree boots that are cut to fit so they will not be too long. -John

fast83camaro,
i don't know, but i think a car with a dirty engine, smashed fender, paint/clearcoat coming off, missing pieces etc. deserves to be called "looks like a piece of junk". Note, i wrote "Looks" and not "IS", because i haven't seen it in person. Posting pictures of a car in here, means that you get reactions and opinions from other people about/to it. If you can't handle a critic input, don't do it.I would be glad to write :"Man, that car is hot like texas sand!" But obviousely that would not be the proper description for this car. I
The truth can be a bitter pill, but it sure tastes better than bull****t.

Yes, thats right. Only good opinions on these boards. If you have a bad opinion, your opinion is incorrect.

I agree with what Graboid said. If people post pics of their cars, they can't expect everyone to be like MdFormula and say "looks good"

Get some engine degreaser on that engine and it will help a lot. My 84 Berlinetta had been sitting up for two years or so and after getting it washed and waxed real good and degreasing the engine it looked alot better. I think your car will be the same way just needs some tlc.

Hey...don't forget. He only paid $1000 Canadian for it. So that's like what..... $150 US?

Seriously thou...stop driving it without an air cleaner, before you damage the engine, and lift up that carpet and let it dry out if its been sitting there without any side window, before it starts to rust underneath....

You gotta start somewhere...Not everyone goes out and buys a showroom condition car. People on these boards try to help you get your car the way you like it. If all they get is critisism they are gonna scrap the project.... When I got my car it had been wrecked into a ditch @ 100 mph and had no nose, no fender, no hood, no hatch and had been sitting in a barn for 3 years. Now its been coverted to 89 GFX and painted and looks awesome. Thats like someone calling a Yenko that needs restoration a peice of junk!

maybe you could state you opinion in a not so Harsh way... constructive critisism...
but if it does have true duals, nice engine, cheap, lots of potential and a good owner... then i'm sure he'll get that thing looking good in no time... Maybe he could make it a sleeper... nos it up and such then pull up to graboid at a light.,.. and smoke him!!

But opinions are opinions and thats what makes our cars intresting... some look nice some dont but there all thirdgen's that we love and Even though my car is in desperate need of a paint job... someone scratches it they get the crap beat out of them.

i'm sure everyone feel the same

Not everyone goes out and buys a POS, either. I never heard anyone say that the car will always be a POS, or isn't worth fixing up, or anything of the like. Truth is, right now, that car is a POS. Hands down.

but if it does have true duals, nice engine, cheap, lots of potential and a good owner
Cheap is relative. He got screwed.

nos it up
Please tell me you didn't just say "nos it up"

My car was a POS when I got it, But now it looks awesome...and I've still only spent $850 including the price of the car....Someone is gonna have a hard time finding a car in my car's condition for $850...Thats why people buy fixer cars...I personally like to make my car what it is...Not just take over someone elses work!

Icebird - don't worry about what other people think of your ride. I'd much rather by a car for as little cash as possible that needs a little work and care. This way, I can completely go through it and rebuild / restore it my way. So I say, "good find"! Just take your time and restore her the way you'd like.

It's taken me close to 4 years to restore / build my ride. It was a pile when I took her home. Now, it dust's Z06's and turns alot of heads at the carshows!

Here's a link to my ride:
