HID lights in a 3rdgen for cheap!

ok, what was/is the cheapest car that HID lights come from the factory with? real HID ones, not projector lights...

anyone want to make a list or somthing? its kinda hard to find out..

heres my basic idea. since someof the yards dont know **** about the cars other then the usual stuff, i think i can score the HID lighting stuff cheap, IF i know what cars to go take it from...

A wrecked Z06, but you would need the computer to run it and figure out how to tie it into your ECM and wiring. Thats gonna be the hard part.

naaa. all i would need is the ballest thingys, and bulbs, and the wiring inbetween them...

so when did Z06s get HID lights anyway? i thought they just had regular C5 popup lights...

Here's the cars I know of that had factory HID options (FYI, HID lights are refered to as Xenon Lights by the factory):

Honda S2000
Acura TL/CL (98+)
Lexus IS300
Lexus GS300/400 (98+)
Lexus LS400/430 (98+)
BMW 3/5/7/M Series and X5 (98+)
Nissan Maxima (2002+)
Audi A6/A8 (98+)
Mercedes Benz (Any 96+)
Cadillac Seville/Catera (2000+)
Infinity Unknown Models (98+)

Not an indefinate list by any means, but that might help narrow down what to look for. Just remember that I said it was a factory option, so no guarantee the lights in these cars are true HID's, you'll need to verify by looking for the ballast (only true HID's have a ballast). Like you said I think its entirely possible to retrofit the HID systems from any of these cars into a 3rd gen provided you use the correct Enclosures. As for the wiring, I would record what was wired to what before you start cutting and match that up to a factory wiring diagram at a later date. be sure to get the Ballasts, the wiring, and the bulbs (like you said). Some bulbs might not come out of the enclosure while you're at the yard so you might just need to take the whole enclosure. Good luck!!

Just buy the Sylvania kit for $500 and be done with it. Comes with everything you would need! No guess work with running around junk yards and trying to upgrade your factory wires for it. Well, if thats what you like to do, then by all means go for it, but i wouldn't!

budget for project: $0
money taken away from other needless items like, food, bills, ect: $50

its not like theres any magic involved here. its just simple wiring.

matter of fact, i could probly get some factory units, toss some wiring in a box and sell it to some suckers for $500..... wait.... some (not all) people do sell thoes kits.......

The problem is finding a car to take them from at a junkyard. Most cars gets the front banged up really good in accidents which will break the bulbs and can damage the ballast.

I dont exactly know what HID lights are and whatnot... not into that stuff.

What I do know, is that I was at the store the other day, and saw that they had "cool blue" headlights for thirdgen's. They look like the regulat sealed beam halogen, but they aren't.

They are not really blue at all... but I'll tell you this: they are brighter than my high beams. I love them, I just **** other drivers off at night, and I am actually somewhat afraid of blinding someone and causing a head on collision.

Just thought I'd thought this out there... I'm not usually browsing this particular board.

That's Canada, where the honor system is still somewhat intact.......Most businesses gave that up a LONG time ago......

No i meant that in Canada most people are honest, that's why they trust people to pay for their purchases and don't try to cage everyone leaving so they can check them, as some yards are down here...

some yards are like that... some arnt.

i asked a guy one time as he was checking someones tool box at a yard..

he said, if it fits in your pocket, we almost expect you to just take it... but anything larger you have to pay for.... thats why they check the tool boxes on the way out.

im not really much for stealing though... ive found that if you're honest about them, they:
1 are amazed.
2 usually let you just take it anyway
3 get to know you and let you get away with bigger ****.

ive used that concept since high school, and it worked for me.

ive found 2 setups so far.. both were broken.

once i find one that works, i'll work somthing out.

im also working on chassis mods, some minor elec mods, a glass rear window in the vert top, among other projects...

this has shifted way down the list. i'll probly be alot more into it after i finish my glass window.
