Got Rust!!!

This is getting really embarrasing. I hate this crap and I can't do much about not knowing anything about bodywork or having the right tools.

Until my I noticed how bad the rust really was, I was going to have some body shop fix it for me. The body certainatly didn't look that bad a month ago.

I don't want to have to worry about body work so I am seriously considering getting a nice Iroc/Z28 when I can get some money available. Hopefully after I graduate college.

I will get rid of the car once I get the Iroc/z28 after I strip it of some certain parts that would benifit the Iroc/Z28.

Yikes..

If I were you, I'd get a quart of Por15 and some sandpaper.

After all of that, take it to a body shop and see how much it would cost to spot weld new peices of sheet metal over.

Or... you can use Bondo...eeks, a quick and easy fix but... it is bondo. Not that bondo is bad, but you really dont wanna fill holes with it.

Man thats some pretty bad rust damage. I agree with you on buying another 3rdgen since you dont have the skills and facilites to fix the damage.

This is a good post that deals with fiberglass repair kit. Glassing is pretty simple to do, well to an extent.

I have done some fiberglassing before, not quite sure I have the skills to make it look perfect. I'll give it a shot though. I still have to drive it in the meantime--it can't possibly look any worse than it does now.

I would defantly give it a shot, sand off any rust or break it off in some cases and lay the glass, sand, primer with a spray can and paint with a spray can. As long as it works its good, even just to tide you over until you get another 3rd gen its better than having it rust to pieces on you before you get the next 3rdgen.

almost looks as bad as mine....

the rust on mine runs all the way across the bottom of my car, and about 3 inches up the drivers door and 1 or 2 inches on the passenger side. a hole rusted through one of the wheel wells. hole rusted through floorboard on the drivers side, carpet gets wet in rain real quick. i bought it cause i was dumb and was impressed cause of the 350.... not saying it was a mistake to buy a thirdgen, it was a mistake to buy that one. sorry for goin off topic. o to top it all off, my friend whos buying it off me wants to staple gun a confederate flag on as the headliner.............

im just glad to be passin the curse
