just painted car.. kind of rough

I just painted my car the other day outside. Overall it came out good and it shiny ut it has a rough feel to it. How should I go about buffing and sanding it? Will it make the car a lot shinier. How long should I wait before doing this?

Start with 600 if it is that rough otherwise start with 1000 grit then 1500 then 2000. Then buff with buffer/compound then glazing compound.

Start TODAY! If it is urethane after 3-4 days you will have to sand your ***** off to sand it flat.

I used 2000 grit on mine (enamel)....it's a pretty rough paint to spray.....and it laid kind of rough too...as you can tell....the sandpaper does it all...

84customZ28, do you have any close up pics of the 81 fender louvers?
How hard was it to install those?

They look pretty damn slick!

4000 grit? Is that in a liquid form? Did you use base/clear? How do you like the perfect it III by 3M? I really like that stuff...we get great results with it everytime..

the 2000 and 4000 are both for the D/A. they are like a sponge. you put them in water and then ring them put. theyhave a velcro backing so it sticks to the D/A. once you use the 4000, you see the shine start to come back to the paint.

i used urethane. yes i used base/ clear coat.

the perfect it III system is amazing. i use it at work and on my own vehicles. i highly recommend it.

they look ok on your car..

but steve has a vert... and the verts are flatter all around... i think its because you see the flat trunk, side top covers, ect.....

i think they would clash on his car....

the coupe has more of a curve to it because of the roof and rear...
